THIS POST IS FIXED TERM FOR 12 MONTHS TO MEET THE NEEDS OF THE SERVICE.

As an Occupational Therapist working within the Primary Care multidisciplinary team across the Newport West Neighbourhood Care Network (NCN) you will be offering Occupational Therapy assessment and intervention with the aim of improving the health and well-being of people primarily presenting with mental health conditions that impact their occupational performance and participation. This may include people coping with the impact of long-term conditions, people experiencing difficulties at work/college, low level of anxiety/depression or those who may be socially isolated.

*Please note that there is also the opportunity of this role being offered as a band 6 dependant upon the candidates experience.*

Main duties of the job

This is a new service delivery model and as such the post holders will be involved in further scoping and developing the role as a First Contact Practitioner, embedding Occupational Therapy practice within the NCN alongside promoting awareness and understanding of Occupational Therapy with the public , primary care colleagues and the wider multidisciplinary team . You will support the citizens of Newport West through person-centred assessment, proactive interventions, self-management strategies which enable people to manage their health and well-being and continue with their daily lives.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

  • Extensive experience of working in primary care and/or a broad range of services settings.
