It is an exciting time to join EPUT as we develop treatment pathways, new processes and therapeutic provision to meet the needs of our clients with a diagnosis or traits of personality disorder. Systemic Family therapy is considered to offer a vital contribution this client group and to service developments. The post holder will support the transformation of delivery of care via direct involvement with colleagues supporting engagement with families and taking a systemic overview to support the understanding of the experience of our clients in our services. Systemic Family Therapy is a highly valued provision across the Trust, it is recognised as a vital provision for this client group and is being developed further. The successful candidate will join a group of systemic psychotherapists/family therapists across the Trust who are supported by the new development of lead for this staff group.
Main duties of the job
In addition to delivering clinical sessions the post holder will support other colleagues in engaging the client with their families across the treatment provision, as agreed with the client. The Systemic Family Therapist will be involved in developing carers' education sessions, formulations sessions with clients and families, systemic support for colleagues with their clients and direct family therapy! An exciting and diverse role that will enable and support the continued development of the successful candidate. As a senior position the post holder will support the management of the service.
The successful post holder will need to demonstrate their ability to be client focused, understand what is meant by trauma informed care, use this and their systemic orientation in clinical thinking and interactions with colleagues, carers and other stakeholders at all times.

The landscape of mental health provision is changing and EPUT is committed to working with partners and all colleagues in developing an outstanding service. There has been significant transformation of service pathways to enable greater integration of cohesive and comprehensive services for our clients. There are still some uncertainties but the successful candidate will be joining with teams of colleagues all with a commitment to the continued development services that is responsive to client need, is trauma informed and is informed by a relational understanding of both therapy and our engagement with our clients. This post is based on the pathway to work with clients with a diagnosis or significant traits of a personality disorder. Your role will involve providing family therapy to clients with complex family presentations. The post holder will also work with colleagues to support the engagement of families appropriately in the treatment planning, formulation and psychoeducation component of the provision of Structured Clinical Management.
You will be working within a psychotherapy service. You will be supported by these colleagues and the newly forming systemic psychotherapy network. You will be responsible for managing your caseload, attending multidisciplinary referral meeting and multi-agency meetings. Supervision will be provided by an experienced systemic therapist. There are many opportunities for CPD and this is positively encouraged and supported.

Person Specification Qualifications/Experience Essential
- Must have Masters Degree or equivalent
- Experience with mental health clients with complex presentations
- Experience supporting multi disciplinary teams
- Experience offering supervision
- Comprehensive knowledge of systemic theory to describe interaction relationships development and psychopathology
