We are excited to have an opportunity for somebody to join our Youth Team within the Children's, Families and Young Persons Service (16-25 years). As a Community Social Worker, you will be able to demonstrate a warm, compassionate and needs-led approach to working with our service users and their families.

The role includes multi-agency working alongside the family, local acute hospital, primary care sector, social care, education and voluntary services to ensure the child's needs are best met.

As part of this team, responsibilities would include undertaking assessments of children, working collaboratively with families and other supporting agencies to manage needs, as well as holding a caseload.

Main duties of the job

We are confident that being part of our team would enable you to be the practitioner you trained, and would like, to be. This role will offer you the time and facilities to make a difference, whilst having the much wider Trust network across Norfolk and Suffolk. There is regular clinical and management supervision with an emphasis on reflective practise. We hold a strong belief in team and individual development. We provide a full induction program and have extensive training and career development that can be accessed across our Trust.

Job responsibilities

The team is relatively small and all work well together and are compassionate and responsive. There are processes to review our work, to develop areas of good practice, therapeutic skills and support learning and development of staff.

The team has been developing ways of working which help to identify the types of needs that arise for young people and their families and channel resources appropriately.

We are looking for mental health or paediatric nurses, social workers or occupational therapists or equivalent with experience and skills in working with children, young people and their families and carers. CAMHS experience would be especially welcome as would knowledge of attachment, child development and working systemically.

Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust is the main provider of specialist mental health services for the counties of Norfolk and Suffolk, serving a population of 1.6 million people. We are a large organisation covering a wide geographical area divided into ‘Care Groups'.
