Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) Stockport; are currently seeking two enthusiastic CY Psychological wellbeing practitioners (CYPWP) to join our team and work within our emotional and mood disorder pathway to offer assessment and evidence based interventions for children and young people.

The post holders will be based in the CAMHS outpatient department which operates Monday to Friday within the hours of 9am to 5pm. CAMHS is located in temporary outpatient accommodation in Denton, Manchester, and is part of the Pennine Care Mental Health Foundation Trust.

Main duties of the job

The two posts will be 12 months fixed term contract, working hours will be negotiated at interview. This is an exciting opportunity for either newly qualified CYPWP or for experienced adult psychological wellbeing practitioners to expand their existing knowledge and clinical experience. CAMHS have recently joined in partnership with our colleagues in the voluntary sector with developing the new CY emotional wellbeing service (Shine) in Stockport and as a result the successful candidates will play a pivotal role delivering early mental health support and enhancing emotional wellbeing for adolescents in Stockport.

The successful post holders will be offered specialist clinical supervision and separate line management; this is an exciting opportunity for anyone interested in developing their clinical skills and gaining experience of working in a specialist mental health service.

The post-holder will work within Stockport supporting the team with a range of assessment and other interventions on an individual and wider systems basis under close clinical supervision from more senior staff. Case management and liaison on an individual and group basis will be an important aspect of the role to both the service users and other professionals.

Person Specification Certificates Essential
  • Qualification from PWP Training Course (Post Graduate Certificate or Level 3 undergraduate course) or an experienced and qualified graduate mental health worker with a Post Graduate Certificate in Primary Mental Health Care or equivalent
  • Experience of working as a psychological wellbeing practitioner / graduate mental health worker in a primary care setting
  • Demonstrates an understanding of anxiety and depression and how it may present in Primary Care
Desirable
  • Training in nursing, social work, occupational therapy, counselling or within a psychological therapy.
  • Experience of safeguarding vulnerable people
  • Demonstrates an understanding for the need to use evidence based psychological therapies and how it relates to this post
