We are seeking a highly motivated, team-focused Clinical Psychologist to work into the Tower Hamlets Mental Health Care of Older People's service (MHCOP), East London NHS Foundation Trust. This is a full-time permanent band 7 post. Psychologists are integral and valued key members of the services multidisciplinary teams, which include the CMHT, Memory service and inpatient wards. The post holder will be responsible for carrying out highly specialist psychological and neuropsychological assessments and therapeutic interventions as well as contribute actively to service development, to improve the health and well-being of the diverse populations that we work with. The post will involve being an active member of multi-disciplinary teams, contributing to training, staff development and consultation, and where appropriate and formulating and undertaking clinical audit and quality improvement.

We welcome applications from soon-to-be qualified clinical psychologists who are passionate about supporting trauma-informed mental health care of older adults, people with dementia, and their families. Highly specialist clinical supervision, including Neuropsychology and Cognitive Analytic Therapy, is offered, alongside more general clinical and professional supervision. There are strong peer support links across the three East London MHCOP services and a range of opportunities for CPD.

Person Specification Education/ Qualification/ Training Essential

• oPostgraduate Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS.
• oRegistration with the Health and Care Professionals Council (HCPC).
• oRelevant specialist older adult training or qualifications including two or more specialist therapies and neuropsychological assessment skills.

Experience Essential

• oSignificant experience of work in NHS setting- including as a trainee and prior, working in a mental healthcare setting with older adults who experience severe mental health problems, complex trauma and dementia including neuropsychology assessment and therapy.
• oUse of psychological models for consultation with staff teams, notably relating to behaviours that challenge
• oExperience of working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• oExperience of providing a clinical service to multicultural populations and use of interpreters.
• oSubstantial experience of risk assessment and risk management
• oExperience of delivering groups
• oSubstantial experience of delivering teaching and training events.

Knowledge and Skills Essential

• oEvidence of highly specialist clinical skills and knowledge in older adult mental health, complex trauma and dementia
• oHigh level ability to plan and conduct assessment and psychological interventions for individual clients and groups and carers, relevant for specialist MHCOP presentations
• oHighly specialist skills in applying theory to work with individuals, couples, families, groups and organisations
• oSkilled in dementia assessments and Competence and confidence in selection and administration of cognitive assessment and neuropsychological test equipment
• oHighly specialist skills in providing consultations in the multi-agency context
• oEvidence of continuing Professional Development as required by Professional Body
• oSufficient knowledge of other modalities to engage appropriately with colleagues and their work with clients
• oA high degree of self-awareness and an ability to reflect on personal and professional attitudes and accept feedback
• oAwareness of current national guidelines and policies
• oSpecific knowledge of pertinent issues for dementia and older adult mental health, including DOLS and mental capacity
• oKnowledge of specific inner city issues which impact of care delivery
• oKnowledge of standard setting and audit implementation
