Come and work within the York Liaison Team who are the mental health link into the York Teaching Hospital emergency department and acute hospital wards.

Full Time , Part time hours considered.

You will be part of a resilient, welcoming and professional team. If you enjoy a challenge and are confident at making clinical decisions this maybe the role for you.

The role involves contact with service users who may have complex health issues and well as complex mental health problems. A special interest in alcohol and substance misuse would be useful. You will experience working in a busy acute hospital in the emergency department and acute hospital wards and engage with lots of other professionals and 3rd sector services.

Main duties of the job

The team operates over 24 hours, 7 day a week.

This is a band 6 post open to registered mental health nurses, dual qualified nurses, learning disability nurses, occupational therapists and social workers with current relevant registration with the NMC, HPC and HCPC.

You will be a member of a multi-disciplinary team and there is ample opportunity to develop and enhance your existing clinical skills. You will receive regular supervision and there are good training opportunities.

As a member of the team you will provide a service to those individuals who present with complex mental health problems often combined with physical health issues. Whom require assessment and signposting to support . Applicants should be highly motivated, have the ability to act on own initiative and have sound risk assessment and written skills.

Job description Job responsibilities

The post holders will be responsible clinical leadership of more junior members of the team, prioritizing workload and utilizing resources appropriately to ensure that service user needs are met. The team is responsible for effective management of response times to the acute hospital and establishing effective working relationships and plays a vital role in reducing hospital admissions to mental health beds.

Person Specification Qualification Essential
  • RNMH, current professional registration with NMC or current professional registration with HCPC or appropriate body in health and social care
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
  • For registered nurses: MIP, FLIP, ENB 998 Teaching & Assessing in Clinical Practice or City & Guilds 730 Teaching in Adult Education. Must be achieved within agreed timescale.
Skills Essential
  • Provide leadership and monitor, co-ordinate and prioritise the activities of a team.
  • Communicate complex and sensitive information effectively to patients, carers/families and all members of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and undertake lead professional and/or care co-ordinator responsibilities
Experience Essential
  • Significant experience working with people with mental ill health
  • Working collaboratively with service users, their families and carers
  • Provide clinical supervision to individuals or groups in a professional setting
Desirable
  • Leadership or management experience
