Our specialist service is expanding and we are seeking a Clinical Lead Nurse to join our team. You will be responsible for day to day clinical leadership and management for urgent and routine cases , providing high quality, responsive care and support to those with Risk High Eating Disorders (RHED).

You will be suitably qualified and have significant, recent experience of working within an acute and/or community mental health care settings, together with excellent risk assessment and crisis management skills.

Experience and understanding of the needs of Eating Disorders is preferred but not essential, as is leadership experience.

Main duties of the job

  • To be responsible for manging and overseeing comprehensive Team assessments for a complex caseload of service users, provide advice, support and deliver interventions. Monitor medication management and concordance and monitor their effects.
  • To be responsible for delivering nationally recognised protocols (eg MaRSIPAN) for safe and effective management of people with Risk High Eating Disorders (RHED).
  • To develop safe and effective services, in accordance with key national targets, clinical standards, service priorities and performance indicators set by regional and local commissioners and Trust policies. To ensure the Team respond to the appropriate standards.
  • To work with an age range of 16 years and above, implement policies to safeguard and actively protect service users and oversee any safeguarding issues relating to adult and child protection.
  • To provide specialist Eating Disorder advice, direction and guidance with regional service colleagues and other partner agencies to provide Eating Disorder services that achieve the best possible outcomes for service users.
  • To line manage and direct the clinical team and service in collaboration with other service leaders.

Job description Job responsibilities

You will be responsible for initiating and developing core standards to ensure that clinical safety for Risk High Eating Disorder (RHED) patients are achieved. You will be responsible for the oversight of team members caseloads and will ensure that outcomes are gathered to demonstrate streamlined and safe service provision. You will work closely with the Consultant Psychiatrist, Specialist Dietician and Team Manager to implement national standards and will be responsible for upskilling and maintaining training for colleagues and Stakeholders in Acute and 3rd Sector Organisations.

Person Specification Training and Qualifications Essential
  • Registered Mental Health Nurse
  • Student mentorship training/qualification.
  • Evidence of post-registration
  • Continuing Professional Development
Desirable
  • Masters level equivalency knowledge, education and skills training.
  • Non-medical prescriber qualification
Knowledge and Skills Essential
  • Specialist knowledge of Mental Health including eating disorders.
  • Knowledge of the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, national legal frameworks.
  • Knowledge of Clinical Governance and its application in practice
  • Ability to demonstrate sound clinical knowledge and awareness of current evidence base relevant to the area of practice.
  • Advanced clinical assessment skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skill
Desirable
  • Awareness of wider health and social care agenda relating to Eating Disorders.
  • Knowledge of audit tools.
  • Passionate about trauma informed service development
Experience Essential
  • Substantial post-registration experience including both acute and community mental health care settings.
  • Evidence of achievement in clinical practice and/or leadership within an area of speciality.
  • Evidence of implementing innovation and change in clinical practice.
  • Liaising and working with families
  • Working knowledge of an urgent / routine duty system
Desirable
  • Experience working with patients with eating disorders.
  • Caseload management / case management skills
Other Essential
  • Be motivated and possesses a non-judgemental attitude towards others.
  • Be able to maintain judgement when under pressure or in highly distressing/emotive situation.
  • Able to work on own initiative and manage a range of priorities across competing agendas.
