To be responsible for the strategic and operational management of Occupational Therapy Services within community and primary care across the UHB.

The post holder will closely collaborate with primary care colleagues, social services and integrated multi professional community based services providing professional supervision, governance support and oversight to the operational leads.

Main duties of the job

Managing specialist teams of Occupational Therapy and support staff across community and primary care services.

Bench mark service provision for primary care and community OT services with other OT services locally, nationally and internationally ensuring that services are effective and evidence based.

Managing the caseloads of staff and patient flow within these areas.

Influencing health, social care and political drivers at local and national levels

Identify, evaluate and implement areas for potential service improvement.

Influence and contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of policies and guidance

Be responsible for ensuring that the appraisal, objective setting and goals for line managed individuals are in line with organisational and professional policy.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Taking a robust clinical and strategic lead in expanding and evolving specialist area within the OT service, the wider MDT and partners e.g. principal OT within the HB locality, primary care and community mental health services.

Managing specialist teams of Occupational Therapists and support staff

Training and development of staff within Occupational Therapy, the multi disciplinary team and other agencies

Ensure delivery of evidence based assessment and interventions

Responsible for ensuring that appraisals, objective setting and goals for line managed individuals are in line with organisation and professional management.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential
  • Degree/Diploma in Occupational Therapy
  • Registered member of the Health and Care Professions Council
  • Post graduate training in clinical education Evidence of commitment to CPD
  • Evidence of ability to work at masters level in field of Paediatrics and/or management qulaifications
  • Pst graduate training in a Paed modality
  • Specialist knowledge of professional assessments and intereventions related Paeds
  • Knowledge and understanding EBP and current drivers
  • Knowledge and application of clinical governance and risk managment
  • Evidnece analysis if critical/analyical thought - ethical issues
  • Knowledge of procedural and legal requirements (CP)
Desirable
  • Knoweldge of standardised and non standardised assessments
  • Interest and involevment quality, audit, SD
  • Partenrship working
Experience Essential
  • Extensive post graduate clinical experience in specialist area/leadership related to post.
  • Evidence of strong clinical/team leadership.
  • Evidence of working across organisational boundaries and managing change effectively
