An opportunity has arisen to join our large and enthusiastic occupational therapy team here in secure services. Fromeside is a regional medium secure unit, which provides a service to 80 in-patient service users with mental health needs. Wickham unit is a 29-bedded low secure service, providing recovery-focussed care.
The occupational therapy team is a well-established, integral and valued part of the multi-disciplinary clinical team. Within the role, you will work closely with colleagues from the multi-disciplinary team to provide a direct clinical service to in-patients with mental health needs in either of our low or medium secure units.
Main duties of the job
Working as a key part of the team, you will routinely undertake all aspects of the OT process, including assessing each service user's occupational functioning; planning, implementing and reviewing appropriate interventions and treatment methods. You will be able to employ a range of individual and group interventions, which embrace social inclusion and recovery principles at their core.
On joining the team, you will receive a comprehensive, structured induction package, and the chance to work with a supportive team in a unique and innovative environment, as well as the support you need, with regular supervision and appropriate training. We offer a preceptorship package for newly qualified Occupational Therapists and run regular CPD sessions for ongoing development. The service actively promotes all aspects of continuing professional development.

To utilise Occupational Therapy specific knowledge to provide the professional contribution within designated Occupational Therapy Services and to assist in the organisation, development, co-ordination and evaluation of the Occupational Therapy Service in conjunction with senior Occupational Therapy staff and relevant Team/ServiceManager.The post holder will contribute to an environment that works with local services to provide evidence based assessment and delivery of care, using the Model of Human Occupation and within the context of Effective Care Coordination. They will continue with their ownprofessional development and assist with that of junior staff and students. They will be required to have a flexible approach to working hours to ensure that the needs of their clients are met.The post holder will demonstrate an attitude which respects and values service users choice and works along side them and their carers to ensure they are at the centre of care planning.
