An exciting opportunity has arisen for the post of Registered Nurse within our male admission ward at West Park Hospital.

Maple ward offers a fantastic opportunity for the right person to join a team who support male patients within a 17 bedded acute ward environment. An additional element of provision on Maple includes a 3 bedded unit which adjoins the main ward, and provides a specialist service for service personnel who are referred via the Ministry of Defence. The personnel who access the MOD part of Maple are in active service and experiencing mental health presentations. You will have involvement within the MOD service framework and inpatient pathway, with opportunities (when COVID restrictions allow) to participate in the Network which supports the provision of this specialist service across the UK and Ireland.

Main duties of the job

You will work as part of a broad multi-disciplinary team delivering high quality, patient focused care in a hospital setting, developing and implementing the integrated team approach within a supportive and enthusiastic team. Within the nursing leadership you will be one of four clinical leads who, alongside the ward manager, are the core leads for the daily operational and clinical safety on the ward.

We want to support and ensure that you have a positive working experience within our services and are committed to identify and support your short and long term developmental needs through structured appraisal and access to training opportunities.

Joining our acute inpatient service means you enjoy a fast paced work environment within a team who are focused on patient experience and recovery through high standards of care and evidence based practice. As a clinical lead on the ward you will work closely with service users and their relatives/ carers as part of a multi-disciplinary team - you will lead the way as a role model within the team, demonstrating compassionate leadership through the Trust Values and Behaviours. You will be a core part of the leadership team for the ward supporting and developing a collective approach to leadership and the development of the ward in conjunction with the team, patients and carers.
