NCEL CAMHS Provider Collaborative

Out of Placement Training Experience

Specialist Registrar- Child & Adolescent Psychiatry

Base: Robert Dolan House, 9, Alie St, London E1 8DE

We are looking for a dynamic, self-motivated and passionate ST6 child psychiatrist to work as part of our Senior Provider Collaborative Team alongside our Clinical Director and lead Psychiatrists, senior managers, senior nurses, case managers and service users to help deliver our collective ambitions for CAMHS services across North Central and East London. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop clinical and systems leadership skills working within an innovative and successful CAMHS Provider Collaborative.

You will be interested in expanding your skills and knowledge in system wide working, change management and CAMH service planning. Our collaborative process is fully embedded within a population health methodology, and you will also gain significant experience in public health.

The Provider Collaborative & the Team

The North Central and East London CAMHS Provider Collaborative is a partnership between East London NHS Foundation Trust (Lead Provider), Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust, Whittington Health NHS Trust, Barnet Enfield and Haringey NHS Trust, and North East London NHS Foundation Trust, and works in collaboration with Ellern Mede, an Independent Sector Provider. The post holder will be employed by the Lead Provider, ELFT as an Out of Placement Training Experience (OOPE)

Main duties of the job

The Collaborative is a provider led partnership that commissions all inpatient CAMHS services (including General Adolescent, Adolescent Psychiatric Intensive Care, Eating Disorder, Low secure and Learning Disability & Autistic Spectrum Condition) for young people living in North Central and East London.

The ambitions of our Collaborative are:

Improve continuity in patient pathways and ensure that financial incentives are focused on high quality and clinically effective patient outcomes.

Ensure services are locally and clinically led, giving local health systems the freedom to innovate to improve services, whilst maintaining national consistency in clinical standards and quality.

Continue to reduce inappropriate out of area placements, avoidable admissions and lengths of stay; and to improve outcomes and experience for children, young people and others using services, including their families and carers.

Where admissions are required, they should be as short as possible, close to home in a high quality, safe and therapeutic service

Improve value for money in specialised mental health spending and reinvest savings in CAMHS community and crisis services, and links with the wider Children Wellbeing networks.

About us

Create a basis for, and achieve further integration with, other local commissioners and locally commissioned mental health services.

Reinvest savings made through improvements in care such as reduced out of area placements into community services for the local population.

Our mission is to make a positive difference to people's lives by improving the quality of life for all we serve. Our values are: We Care, We Respect, We are Inclusive - so we are looking for people who live and breathe these qualities when supporting service users and carers, and in their relationships with colleagues in the Trust and our partner organisations

Job description Job responsibilities

This is an opportunity to work as a part of the senior team delivering our Provider Collaboratives vision for transforming how Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services Tier 4 services are commissioned and delivered across North Central and East London

This is a post for a trainee in their final year. However, we anticipate that this will be a rolling post accessible to other trainees at 6 monthly intervals in the future.
