We currently have vacancies for two full time CBT therapists to carry out the following job role:

Managing your own caseload of clients with Anxiety disorders or Depression providing evidence based treatments.

Facilitate group work.

Engage in CPD programme.

Attend MDT meetings.

Provide and participate in clinical supervision.

Attend reflective practice.

Main duties of the job

Role Summary:

Provision of CBT based assessment, formulation and treatment for moderate to severe anxiety disorders and depression.

Key Responsibilities of the Post:

To provide CBT to clients referred into Healthy Minds.

To undertake and manage a clinical caseload and to prioritise work within agreed service criteria

To act autonomously in the assessment, formulation and implementation of appropriate treatment strategies for patients using a range of specialist therapeutic procedures

To support with service developments, as required, including the delivery of therapeutic groups.

To liaise with other professionals as appropriate.

To undertake clinical supervision to ensure safe therapeutic practice

To complete all documentation as required by the service

Key Requirements of the Person Specification:

HIT qualification/CBT diploma or equivalent with post qualification experience delivering CBT for people with common mental health problems.

Accreditation with the BABCP.

Service/Ward/Department Summary:

Oldham Healthy Minds provides a range of evidenced based interventions for people requiring a psychological intervention utilising a stepped care model. The post is within a busy IAPT service on a permanent basis.

Staff welfare and professional development is of great importance within our service. To reflect this we offer regular clinical supervision individually as well as peer supervision every month. We provide monthly in house CPD and we provide the opportunity external training wherever possible.

We also offer flexible working opportunities in line with the Trust Policy.

Job description Job responsibilities

Main Duties & ResponsibilitiesClinical1) To carry out the assessment, formulation and treatment planning for serviceusers referred to the service.2) To provide Cognitive Behavioural Therapy to service users using evidence basedprotocol.3) To attend relevant meetings in relation to service user group and to give adviceon referrals appropriate for CBT.4) To work closely with relevant other professionals as appropriate.5) To communicate in a skilled and sensitive manner, information concerning theassessment, formulation and treatment plans to service users and their multidisciplinary professional team.6) To undertake risk assessment and risk management of service users.Teaching, Supervision & Training1) In common with all qualified therapists, to receive regular clinical supervision froma suitably qualified clinician and where appropriate other senior colleagues.2) To develop skills in professional post-graduate teaching, training and supervisionand to provide supervision to trainees from recognised university professionaltraining courses when appropriate.3) To provide advice, consultation and training to staff in areas of post holderscompetence.4) To contribute to Borough and Trust wide training initiatives.Management, Recruitment, Policy and Service Development1) To participate in new and innovative service developments within the HealthyMinds service applying sound practice-based knowledge and theoreticalframeworks.2) To contribute to the development, evaluation and monitoring of the operationalpolicy, procedures and protocols for the service.Research and Service Evaluation1) To contribute to the provision of data for service evaluation2) To ensure that clinical interventions carried out by self and trainees/superviseesare informed by reliable and up to date research and that service users areoffered treatments with the best-proven efficacy.3) To disseminate recent advances in psychological knowledge/therapies enablingpsychologically informed work within the wider service to be based on goodpractice guidelines, using sound theoretical frameworks and nationalrecommendationsInformation Resources1) To use a computer as necessary for clinical work/training, including literaturesearches, presenting diagrammatic formulations, developing and maintainingtraining packs/presentations and information leaflets, inputting data, emailing,report writing and other tasks required for the efficient running of the service.2) To compile accurate statistical information as required, and to maintain records ofclinical activity. To ensure the submission of clinical activity data, as required bythe TrustProfessional1) To ensure that clinical notes and correspondence are maintained in accordancewith Trust policies and procedures, and meet the highest standards of clinicalrecord keeping in accordance with the professional code of practice of your coremental health professional and the BABCP.2) To be a member of Healthy Minds Therapies Service and to act within thegovernance framework developed by the Service and by the Trust Lead forPsychological Therapies.3) To observe the provision of and adhere to all Trust policies and procedures andthe Health and Care Professions Council if appropriate or other professionalbody.4) To maintain an up to date knowledge of all relevant national legislation and localpolicies and procedures for implementation.5) To be familiar with and follow health and safety policy and procedures, and to beaware of individual responsibilities under legislation, drawing any areas of risk tothe attention of managers. To contribute to the reduction of risk in areas ofresponsibility.6) To undertake any other duty that is appropriate to the grade, when requested bythe Team or Service Managers.This job description is not exhaustive, but is intended to give an overall picture of therole. Person Specification Education/Qualifications Essential
  • Qualification from High Intensity IAPT Course or Post Graduate Diploma in CBT
  • Core qualification plus qualification training in a psychological therapy
  • BABCP Accreditation
Desirable
  • EMDR Level 2 training
  • Clinical supervision qualification
Experience Essential
  • Substantial post qualification experience working as a therapist.
  • Experience of routine outcome monitoring
  • Experience of contributing to a multi-disciplinary team approach
Desirable
  • Experience of joint working with other public sector and/or 3rd sector services
  • Experience of providing clinical supervision
Skills & Abilities Essential
  • Ability to meet agreed/specified service targets
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage own caseload and time
  • Ability to adhere to Trust record keeping policies and standards
  • Full range of skills and competencies as laid out in the competence framework for CBT (Roth and Pilling 2007)
  • IT literate
  • Well developed communication skills and an awareness of issues relating to confidentiality and information sharing.
  • Highly developed skills in the assessment and management of risk and to work collaboratively with clients, professionals and other services when required to ensure the safety of clients, self and others
  • Able to develop good therapeutic relationships with clients while working within a time limited framework
  • Ability to manage intense frequent periods of prolonged concentration in client sessions and during computing tasks.
  • Ability to be self-reflective, whilst working with service users, & in own personal and professional development and
Desirable
  • Ability to provide services in a variety of settings.
  • Ability to carry our research, audit and service evaluation
  • Trained to use PCMIS
Work related circumstances Essential
  • Car driver/owner and/or ability and willingness to travel to locations away from base
