With a big national focus on improving services for children and young people’s mental health and wellbeing, there has never been a better time to join Oxford Health CAMHS and make a positive difference to children and young people’s life chances.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist, Clinical Psychologist, Family Therapist, Mental Health Nurse, Occupational Therapist or Social Worker to join the Wiltshire CAMHS In Reach Team as a Lead Clinical Specialist/CAMHS Sexual Assault Link Therapist. This role covers Swindon and Wiltshire and involves providing support for children who have experienced sexual harm.

Key aspects of the role include:
  • Providing consultation and or supervision to professionals/organisations involved with children for whom this has been their experience
  • Working with parents e.g., providing group level psychoeducation regarding the impact of sexual harm & trauma
  • Providing direct trauma focused therapeutic input for children of all ages
  • Developing and delivering training for CAMHS colleagues and other services/agencies

We are looking to recruit a dynamic and enthusiastic practitioner with knowledge and direct experience of working with sexual harm and trauma. This role offers a fantastic opportunity for joint and collaborative working with colleagues in CAMHS and partner agencies and to be involved in the strategic development of this service.

The Wiltshire CAMHS In Reach Team works with children, young people, and families/carers where there is a multi-agency network and the needs of the children, young people and family/carer would best be met by CAMHS being an integrated part of the network. Recognising that children, young people, parents, and families may have many agencies already involved; the In-Reach team works closely alongside existing professionals such as education, health, social care, youth offending and substance misuse services.

The service predominantly operates within a consultation framework, offering a specialist mental health, multi-disciplinary perspective to vulnerable children, young people, and families, presenting with complex systemic and psychological issues.

In addition to this lead role as CAMHS Sexual Assault Lead Therapist there will be opportunities to work across the In Reach Team in areas such as Looked After Children, Harmful Sexual Behaviour, Child Sexual Exploitation, Youth Offending and Edge of Care.

You will have the opportunity to make an active and meaningful contribution to our exciting service modernisation and redesign that is based on the i-Thrive model, ensuring children and young people get the right support, at the right time, in the right place, from individuals with the right skills.

This is a varied and rewarding role within a highly supportive team. We offer excellent learning and development opportunities within this role.

The Wiltshire In Reach has a main base at Melksham Hospital in Melksham and team members can also access CAMHS bases at Marlborough and Salisbury. The service is to be delivered across Swindon and Wiltshire and there will be some flexibility in terms of base location, including the option of access to the Swindon CAMHS base. There is flexibility to work remotely to deliver aspects of this role.
