The permanent posts are eligible for a £1500 New Hire Bonus. An initial payment of £500 will be paid in the first 1 month and a final payment of £1000 will be paid 1 year after your start date. This will be pro-rata for part-time posts. Internal applicants are not eligible.

CPFT are delighted to offer you the unique opportunity to be part of a new Crisis Team to support children and young people in our county. This is an exciting opportunity to be fully involved in developing and creating the highest quality service provision for service users and their families / supporters from the start and we need you to help us achieve this.

Our aim is to provide a multiagency/ multi skilled team to support families and young people in Crisis by delivering short-term, recovery-focused interventions and brief home treatment plans. The Team will have experienced clinical leaders working alongside support staff to deliver planned episodes of care and ensure young people have access to appropriate support.

We are looking for practitioners who are passionate, dynamic, and skilled professionals and support staff who are ready for a new challenge to significantly improve children's experiences

LEASE NOTE THAT THE BASE IS NEGOTIABLE WITHIN CAMBRIDGESHIRE AND PETERBOROUGH, AND WILL REQUIRE TRAVEL ACROSS THIS COUNTY.

Main duties of the job

Key relationships for the service include working with existing CAMHS, First Response Service, CAMHS Intensive Treatment Team, adult mental health services and acute care colleagues, to begin the risk assessment process as soon as the young person enters the acute care Trusts. Liaison with GP's and professionals such as social care colleagues and education for community assessments will be an essential element to the service delivery.

  • Working closely with Acute Hospitals to ensure the timely assessment of young people presenting in an emergency.
  • To undertake clinical mental health assessments and support the management of Children and Young People presenting in crisis.
  • Ensure that care is based on the assessment of care needs and includes a thorough risk assessment and risk management plan.
  • Use clinical knowledge and expertise to formulate an assessment of relapse risk of the patient after specialist assessment. Liaise with other agencies caring for patients, including community mental health teams and GPs and use collateral information from relatives, GPs and past clinical reports, where available and appropriate, to provide care plans for all patients.
  • Provide Supervision and Clinical leadership within the Service
  • Deputise for the Service Lead when necessary
  • Utilise recent research findings in the advancement of best practice and in the delivery of an evidenced based service.
  • To provide support and expert advice to colleagues involved in the care of patients with mental health needs and develop systems to ensure that this support is available in a range of ways.
  • Monitor and evaluate the standards of care and take actions to ensure that a high standard of care is maintained. Contribute to Audit to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Identify and be responsive to the diverse cultural, social and spiritual needs of all patients.
  • Promote general health education and specifically mental health education to the client group.
  • Identify and intervene proactively in situations that contribute to an unsafe environment for patients, visitors and staff.
  • Ensure the effective and efficient use of all resources.
  • Ensure that all duties are carried to the highest possible standard, and in accordance with the current quality initiatives within the work area.
  • Be aware of the responsibility to maintain a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors.

  • Undertake clinical risk assessments, based on the latest empirical evidence and in compliance with local policies and procedures.
  • Act as the advocate for patients and relatives.
  • Enable patients and carers to manage disability, loss and change
  • Champion patients rights, including: dignity, equality, diversity, choice and respect.
  • When undertaking all of the above ensure good documentation is provided and entered within the appropriate record systems.
  • To be aware of own personal development needs and participate in regular supervision and appraisal processes.


Person Specification Education/Qualifications Essential
  • Mental Health or Paediatric Nurse/Social work Qualification OR Registered Nurse with CAMHS Experience Or other HCPC-registered professional
  • Current NMC/HCPC Registration appropriate to the job role
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
Desirable
  • Clinical supervision qualification
  • Specific training in either family work or psychological approaches to helping young people
  • Leadership qualification/training
  • Advanced Nurse prescriber Qualification/or AMHP qualification
  • Teaching (clinical practice) qualification/certificate or equivalent experience
Experience Essential
  • Willingness to engage in work with children, young people and families who require mental health services
  • Significant Experience of working with children and young people presenting with mental health crisis or need
  • Experience of working in a setting relevant to CAMHS
