The permanent posts are eligible for a £1500 New Hire Bonus. An initial payment of £500 will be paid in the first 1 month and a final payment of £1000 will be paid 1 year after your start date. This will be pro-rata for part-time posts. Internal applicants are not eligible.

Rotational Band 5 OT position into the Intermediate Care Team in the Community at Cambridge Rehabilitation Unit.

We are exploring the potential for this role to be part of a rotational role in the future into the Intermediate Care Team .

To provide Intermediate care Occupational intervention to enable patients to maximize their abilities to undertake all aspects of functional daily living reach client-centred goals

Main duties of the job

To be accountable for assessing, interpreting , planning, implementing and evaluating treatment to patients within professional guidelines, with support of senior Practitioners. To identify patient needs, agree goals and provide appropriate therapy interventions. Provide adaptive equipment, rehabilitation programmes, and make recommendations for minor adaptations in line with legislation. To keep the patient at the centre of care, ensuring patient and carer participation in decision making.

To promote independence and wherever possible and reduce inpatient length of stay to ensure patients receive the appropriate care in the most appropriate setting. To demonstrate the importance of gaining patient and carer consent in all interventions. To work effectively within the team structure and liaise appropriately with members of the MDT and other agencies by attending MDT meetings, case reviews. To ensure that accurate and timely written records are kept which comply with the Trust policy and HCPC guidance, reporting on any issues as appropriate.

Person Specification Experience Essential
  • Experience of working in the NHS
  • A broad range of undergraduate placements completed including stroke and/or neurology
  • Clinical experience including neurology and/or stroke
  • Community experience
Education/Qualifications Essential
  • Degree or equivalent,e.g. BSc,, or Diploma entry level qualification into the Occupational Therapy profession
  • Current HCPC registration
  • Documented evidence of own continuing professional development
  • Member of Royal College of Occupational Therapy
  • Member of Royal College of Occupational Therapy Specialist Therapy Specialist Section,Neurological
Skills & Abilities Essential
  • Able to demonstrate commitment to high quality care and service provision
  • ability to work flexibly as part of a team
  • Good communication skills
  • Good report writing, able to assess plan and implement care, support junior staff
  • Understanding of clinical supervision
  • Ability to communicate with patients with impaired communication abilities
