The North Manchester Division of GMMH are looking to recruit two experienced Senior Practitioners for Personality Disorder and Complex Emotional Needs to facilitate the delivery of Structured Clinical Management in the Community Mental Health Teams.

Applicants should hold a professional qualification such as Registered Mental Health Nurse, Registered Social Worker, Occupational therapist. Experience working in a community mental health is desirable though relevant experience in other clinical settings would be considered.

The successful applicant will be required to deliver therapeutic interventions to a caseload consisting of people who have complex relational needs and/or who may be given a diagnosis of Personality Disorder.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will be supported to deliver care via the Structured Clinical Management (SCM) pathway, by individual appointments and with other colleagues, the SCM skills group and will be required to offer other focussed therapeutic interventions for people under the care of the CMHT.

The successful applicant will be required to provide clinical leadership and supervision to colleagues in the team and wider services. The Senior Practitioners, with support from the Clinical Lead, will deliver SCM training to colleagues in the division. The successful applicant will be required to complete Root Cause Analyses (RCAs) and 72 hour post incident reviews where relevant to Personality Disorder and allocated by senior managers.

The successful applicant will be offered training in Structured Clinical Management and any other relevant training required. The Senior Practitioners contribute to the service review, evaluation and development of the SCM pathway and are supported to develop their skills and knowledge.

The successful applicant will be required to work Monday-Friday though will also be expected to participate in the Bronze on call rota, providing clinical/operational leadership to colleagues outside of office hours. This can include weekends and public holidays.

Job description Job responsibilities

  • Provide clinical leadership, supervision, support and consultation to all staff and the multi-agency team in order to ensure the support of people whose difficulties may result in them being given a diagnosis of a Personality Disorder or who present with complex relational needs.
  • Manage and evaluate a caseload of up to 12 complex cases whose difficulties may result in them being given a diagnosis of a Personality Disorder or who present with complex relational needs.
  • To support the clinical team by completing formulations of people with complex relational needs to inform the teams treatment and management of these difficulties.
  • Contribute to the development of and provide therapeutic intervention using Structured Clinical Management to service users with Personality Disorder or who present with complex relational needs and be prepared to engage with any relevant additional training which supports the role.
  • Provide specific training to the CMHT and other teams in the division on the area of Personality Disorder, trauma, emotional regulation and interpersonal difficulty and other areas as appropriate.
  • Contribute to and facilitate the SCM group intervention for service users whose difficulties may result in them being given a diagnosis of a Personality Disorder or who present with complex relational needs.

    • Professional qualification, eg, RMN, Registered Social Worker, Occupational Therapist, Psychological Therapist
    Desirable
    • Evidence of post registration education or training relevant to the role
    Experience Essential
    • Post registration experience working with people with complex mental health needs in a relevant clinical setting
    Desirable
    • Evidence of post registration work with people with a diagnosis of Personality Disorder
    Skills Essential
    • Demonstration of or reference to clinical skills relevant to working with complex mental health needs
    Desirable
    • Evidence of awareness or application of psycho-social interventions for the client group
