Clinical Fellow (ST 4 Equivalent level) Clinical Fellow in Child and Adolescent Child and Adolescent Psychiatry GMMH, Junction 17 Adolescent service, Prestwich
This exciting post is available from 3rd August 2022, for6 to 12 months, and is intended to provide experience at ST4 equivalent level for a junior doctor with previous experience of CAMHS.
It is expected that applicants will have MRCPsych and Section 12 Approval or be actively working towards this. The post is aimed at those doctors wanting to gain more experience prior to applying for ST4 in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry training or aiming to work towards CESR. There are opportunities to also gain forensic CAMHS experience also, as J17 is co-locating with FCAMHS and the Gardner Unit (medium-secure forensic CAMHS unit).
Main duties of the job
To work as a middle grade doctor on the Junction 17 and provide cross cover for trainee psychiatrists across the CAMHS service as required. You will have the capacity to work effectively with others and will be expected to work in multi-professional teams, supervising junior medical staff CT1-3s as well as undertaking some administrative tasks shared with ST4+ colleague.
You will also be expected to show leadership, make decisions, organise and motivate other team members for the benefit of patients through, for example, audit and quality improvement projects. You will be expected to take and give comprehensive handovers to your colleagues who are working out of hours shifts, providing optimum continuity of patient care.

Job description Job responsibilities
You will be expected to complete assessments and provide interventions, as indicated, for patients referred to the service, both as routine and emergencies. This may include joint working with the MDT and working individually as well as liaising with partner agencies. You will need to a competent communicator both verbally and through written communication with relevant agencies and professionals as well as with families and young people.
Clinical supervision by the Consultant, to whom the post holder is attached, will take place on a regular basis. Post holder will be e encouraged and supported to consolidate and strengthen their experience of assessment and management of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry problems. Where required the post holder will be supported to build up their portfolio/CV for any future Higher Training Deanery applications the post holder might be planning to make, this support will include; enabling participation in a range of clinical duties, teaching and training including supervising trainees and medical students, audit and quality improvement projects. as agreed by the consultant.
At no time, should the post holder work outside the defined level of competence. If you have concerns regarding this, please discuss immediately with your manager/supervisor/consultant. All staff have a responsibility to inform those supervising their duties if they are not competent to perform a duty.
