Hastings Urgent Care Services are looking for an experienced band 6 or band 7 nurse who is passionate about urgent care and supporting people in mental health crisis to join the team. If you are a Registered Mental Health Nurse, with a drive and motivation to support people who present to urgent care services in crisis, then our Band 7 Senior Nurse Practitioner position may be the role for you!
The post holder is required to work across the urgent care services (CRHT, Haven and Mental Health Liaison Service). The role includes responding to any urgent referrals from the Emergency Department at the Conquest Hospital, supporting the Conquest Hospital with any patient who are open to the Mental Health Liaison Team, overseeing and supporting the Haven where referrals are received from SECAMB, the Police and other Mental Health professionals, supporting people currently open to the Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment Team and providing clinical leadership across the Urgent Care Services in Hastings. As an SNP you will be required to provide clinical leadership and specialist advice across the services to ensure the needs of the patient group are adequately met.
Main duties of the job
Additionally to the above, the post holder will be working autonomously and be expected to manage a range of challenging situations, be able to think on their feet and provide guidance and advice to junior staff. You will need sound clinical assessment, risk assessment and safety planning skills. Exceptional communication skills as you will be expected to liaise with a wide range of other clinicians and services as part of the role.
The post holder will play ackey part in the development and implementation of Core 24, service development and delivery, building links with other mental health services, ESHT and local care providers to promoting better working relationships outside of SPFT and be involved in two-way training and teaching. The post holder will be expected to promote a safe, positive working environment for our patients and our staff, challenging any negative attitudes or behaviours and supervise junior staff.
You will be joining a friendly, supportive and creative multi-disciplinary team, dedicated to providing a high-quality service to people who present in crisis.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential
- Registered Nurse with current registration (mental health / LD/ Adult) appropriate to the job role
- Degree/diploma level supplemented by specialist qualification, training, experience, courses to masters level equivalent relevant to the care group
- Evidence of post registration training in relevant service area
- Completion of Mentorship Course/ENB equivalent
- Extensive post qualifying experience in relevant service area
- Experience of supervising staff and students
- Able to manage a caseload of patients with complex mental health needs
- Comprehensive knowledge of interventions specific to service area
- Awareness of Trust policies and service specification
