We are delighted to be inviting applications from enthusiastic and experienced senior Clinical / Counselling Psychologists or clinical tutors/lecturers, who have experience in training, to join our new and innovative Training & Partnerships Team in Psychological Services. This is an exciting opportunity to build your career in training in Clinical Psychology and the Psychological professions. Post holders will contribute to leading, developing and delivering the Masters level training for Clinical Associates in Psychology (CAPs). This is a senior role aimed at those with experience in training, who are ready to step up to a role where they will support and supervise other staff, take a lead in liaising with clinical supervisors and make a significant contribution to the leadership and governance of the programme.

Main duties of the job

The role will include supervision of staff and oversight of clinical practice learning along with designing and leading modules, teaching and assessment, monitoring and support of individual learners, liaison with practice placement supervisors, and contribution to the governance and management of the programme. There may also be opportunities to contribute to other exciting projects being developed by our team, including psychologically informed CPD for the wider NHS staff group and projects aimed at widening access to careers in the psychological professions, supporting equality, diversity and inclusion. We are looking for staff to bring a range of expertise across psychological therapies, mental health, physical health, learning disabilities and specialist areas of delivery across the adult and older adult range. We are particularly interested to hear from those who bring experience of teaching, lecturing, research and supervision and who are keen to further build their experience and skills in clinical training. These posts are all offered on a fractional basis so that they can easily fit alongside a clinical role, or another training role. For those who are interested in a full-time post, we have a range of opportunities in clinical specialisms that could be combined with this post, as well as possibilities to combine this role with a training role in our partner university.

About us

The new CAP programme has strong links to the national Group of Trainers as well as to the professional body, the British Psychological Society. We work closely with other training providers (universities) and with partner employers who have apprentices registered on our programme. Post holders will have the opportunity to build their engagement with these wider networks, offering excellent opportunities for gaining leadership experience and an understanding of wider systems.

The Trust offers excellent support for staff CPD, and post holders will be supported to gain qualifications in learning and teaching; other opportunities, for example to gain dual accreditation in a specialist area of psychological therapy, to undertake further leadership training and development, or to develop an area of research, are also available supported by the appraisal process. We have strong links with several regional universities that include research collaborations as well as contribution to teaching and placement experience.

The CAP programme includes learners from across Herts, Beds, Essex and beyond and we have in place an innovative 'blended learning' approach to the teaching delivery, which includes both remote online delivery and some place-based delivery. While the programme is based in Epping, which is easily accessible via both the M25 and M11, the staff team are able to do a significant proportion of their work remotely and there are opportunities for flexible working arrangements.

Job description Job responsibilities

Please refer to the attached job description and person specification for the details of the job role and the applicant requirements.

For those who may not yet meet the full person specification, there may be options for appointment to a lecturer or senior lecturer level post within our team, depending on experience and availability of posts.

If you are committed to the development and expansion of the psychological workforce, if youd like to contribute to leading an innovative new programme, and if you are keen to build your skills in training and leadership wed love to hear from you.

As a part of our commitment to ensuring that the training workforce is reflective of those who we train, and those who use our services, we would particularly encourage applications from those who identify as being part of a minoritised group.
