’If you are looking for an exciting new chance to use your clinical skills to make a difference, working in a stimulating and supportive environment, there is a fantastic opportunity to join our Psychological Therapies Team in Herefordshire as a Senior Art Psychotherapist Band 8a”.
Due to the retirement of the existing post holder, we are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for an experienced and innovative art psychotherapist to contribute to developing community art psychotherapy in Herefordshire.
The focus of this post will be the development and delivery of specialist evidence-based art psychotherapy provision (individual and group) for service users across the different pathways within our core community service. The post holder will be integral to our working age adult, Psychological Service in Herefordshire and line managed by the Lead Psychologist. There will be an emphasis on delivering NICE recommended art psychotherapy for people with a range of diagnoses, including psychosis and other complex needs. The role will contribute to creating and sustaining more psychologically and trauma-informed environments across the system of care. There would be some, albeit limited scope to offer input into inpatient art psychotherapy.
The role is a senior clinical post and previous relevant experience working in the NHS within adult mental health care is essential. The post holder will be crucial to shaping the future of art therapy within the new models of care and developing services in line with the Long Term Plan, local Community Transformation Plans, and upcoming NICE recommendations for rehabilitation for people with SMI.
The post holder will be a welcome member of our well-established and highly respected psychological service. This service provides a cohesive and supportive environment for newly qualified and more experienced staff. ACT, CFT, DBT, EMDR, CBT, CBTp and family interventions are core to adult services. We also have fully trained staff in CAT, MBT and Short Term Dynamic Psychotherapy, and we offer a range of model-specific supervision groups. Locally we are investing in SCM and have planned a full rollout of this training in the autumn.
Herefordshire offers excellent living and working prospects. Nearby are the Wye Valley, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty; the Forest of Dean; the Malvern Hills; and the Brecon Beacons National Park, with easy access to the M5 and M50. Bristol, Birmingham, Cardiff and Cheltenham are all within easy reach of Herefordshire. The area also benefits from outstanding schools and rich cultural life.
