We currently have opportunities to join the Nursing Bank within Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (HPFT) in Radlett as a CAMHS Waiting List Monitoring Eating Disorders Nurse

All roles on the bank are for as and when workers and therefore in particular may suit those already working part-time, with other commitments, or who want to work on a short-term basis.

Job Summary
  • The post holder will be part of a multi-disciplinary team providing a high standard of service to children and adolescents with an eating disorder and their families/carers.
  • The post-holder will work within professional guidelines and under the clinical/professional supervision of senior clinicians of own core profession
  • The post-holder will contribute to & undertake research, audit and evaluation for service development
  • The post holder is responsible for the assessment of care needs and the development/implementation of care plans to meet the needs of children and young people with Eating Disorders.
  • The post holder will support HCA’s who will medically monitor all patients in the waiting list monitoring clinic and take action as set out in the team policy to ensure safe management of patients with medical complications due to their eating disorder. This will include monitoring weight, height, siting and standing BP and Pulse and blood sugars and escalation to the CAMHS Eating Disorders Team when deterioration. This will also include supporting patients to have supplements such as Ensure/Glucogel when blood sugars are dangerously low, sending patients to A&E with appropriate documentation and liaising with Acute Trusts to ensure streamlined and consistent care between trusts. The post holder will be required to update team doctors of all information gathered during the clinic in a timely fashion and escalating in a urgent manner when required.
  • The post holder will provide direct clinical interventions to children and young people and will also provide support, advice, consultation and training to a range of professionals across Hertfordshire.
  • The post holder will work collaboratively with service users, Single Point of Access, GP’s, Paediatricians, medical and nursing staff, dieticians, parents and carers, social care, education staff and other relevant providers.
  • The post holder will work as an autonomous practitioner & will work closely with Tier 3 and Tier 4 services in CAMHS, including eating disorder inpatient units, DBT Team & Home Treatment Team
  • The post holder will work closely with the Adult Eating Disorder Service to ensure a seamless transition into Adult Services from Child and Adolescent Services
