We currently have opportunities to join the Nursing Bank within Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (HPFT) in Radlett as a CAMHS Medical Monitoring Eating Disorders Nurse

All roles on the bank are for as and when workers and therefore in particular may suit those already working part-time, with other commitments, or who want to work on a short-term basis.

Job Summary:

The Medical Monitoring Eating Disorders Nurse will be an active member of the multi-disciplinary team and will work in close co-operation with other CAMHS community teams, hospital based inpatient care, & primary care-based professionals.

The Medical Monitoring Eating Disorders Nurse will be responsible for the assessment of care needs and the implementation, and evaluation of programmes of care for Children and Young people and Families with eating disorders and complex mental health who require medical monitoring; and maintaining associated records. They will also act as Mentor and Practice Assessor for student nurses as required.

The Community Eating Disorders will medically monitor all patients in the medical monitoring clinic and take action as set out in the team policy to ensure safe management of patients with medical complications due to their eating disorder. This will included monitoring weight, height, siting and standing BP and Pulse and blood sugars. This will also include supporting patients to have supplements such as Ensure/Glucogel when blood sugars are dangerously low, sending patient’s to A&E with appropriate documentation and liaising with Acute Trusts to ensure streamlined and consistent care between trusts. The post holder will be required to update care co-ordinators and team doctors of all information gathered during the clinic in a timely fashion and escalating in a urgent manner when required.
