We have secured significant funding from community transformation funds to transform our complex emotional difficulties pathway in West Sussex.

To support the implementation of this work we are recruiting to two new Band 7 Psychological Therapist (CBT) posts, based in:
  • x1 in Crawley (North West Sussex)
  • x1 in Worthing

We are looking for individuals with excellent clinical skills, an aptitude for engaging with colleagues and service users in an innovative and positive way, and experience of working with people with this diagnosis. You will be able to think creatively with our partners about developing alliances in our treatment pathways, and we would value a strong commitment to recovery, multi-disciplinary working, service user involvement, and equality. Our funding for the pathway also covers access to training in specialist evidence-based interventions.

As the posts sit within community mental health teams, there will be opportunities to protect a part of your caseload to continue working with the whole range of difficulties presenting in secondary care services, including those experiencing psychosis and complex PTSD. Your career progression is important to us and we will provide local opportunities to develop leadership and supervision skills. Successful applicants will have the opportunity to train in some of the psychological interventions on the pathway (including Structured Clinical Management; MBT; schema focussed therapy; DBT skills).

Main duties of the job

As a Psychological Therapist working on our new Complex Emotional Difficulties pathway, you will work closely with our Principal Psychologists and Consultant Clinical Psychologist leading on this work. You will support the local implementation of the referral pathway, providing evidence-based interventions, to include structured clinical management (SCM), Schema based therapy, MBT and DBT skills.

You will work closely with a wide range of multi-disciplinary colleagues within Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, as well as service users, to develop the work that is currently in progress. As a member of our Psychological Therapies team the postholder will contribute towards the leadership of psychologically informed interventions and support the psychological practitioner workforce (graduate mental health workers, mental health wellbeing practitioners). There may also be opportunities to supervise trainees and others delivering psychological interventions.

To protect the health and safety of our staff/workers, patients, and those attending our sites, we encourage our workforce to get fully vaccinated against COVID
