The Whole Family Team sits within the Camden Local Authority, providing CAMHS input with a remit of supporting workers working with families who have a complex network of professionals attached to them. These families benefit from a Whole Family Approach and often do not engage with community services. The post is to join the Whole Family Service (WFS) as a member of staff in the Whole Family Team and in a liaison and diversion role for the Youth Offending Service.

The post holder would be expected to identify, screen and support young people (under 18 years old) coming into contact with the justice system that have one or more acute or existing vulnerabilities, this may include mental health issues, neurodevelopmental disorders, substance misuse and who also may present with a degree of risk.

The post holder would be expected to hold a case load of complex clients who have been referred into the Whole Family Team, including individuals and family/parent work. The post holder would be expected to work alongside and offer consultations to a wider multi-agency network. The post holder would be expected to attend professionals and network meetings such as child protection conferences and core groups. The post holder would be expected to hold in mind the impacts of contextual safeguarding risks and serious youth violence as well as the impact of risk within family settings.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential
  • Nursing Registered or equivalent MH Professional Registration
  • Registered with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) or UKCP
Experience Essential
  • Demonstrable appropriate post qualifying experience of working with vulnerable persons within a community or inpatient MH setting
  • Experience of working in a clinical role with young people, parents, and families, and the ability to work autonomously in a multi agency context
  • Demonstrable evidence of transferable knowledge, skills, competencies and related activities that is applicable, and relevant to working in Liaison and Diversion
Skills Essential
  • An ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing to convey highly complex and clinically sensitive wide range of professional people within and outside the NHS
  • Knowledge of Mental Health Act
  • Knowledge and understanding of issues relating to safeguarding children
Desirable
  • Skills in risk assessment, risk management and the ability to formulate safety plans
  • A familiarity with trauma informed practice
Other Requirements Essential
  • Evidence of personal resilience and aptitude for dealing with potentially distressing and highly emotional clinical work
  • Willingness and ability to travel around the borough.
