Band 7 Clinical Pharmacist (or band 6 with progression to 7 depending on experience), 1 WTE + EDC (remote).

An opportunity has arisen within our team for an enthusiastic and highly motivated pharmacist with excellent communication skills to provide high quality Mental Health clinical pharmacy services. If you have a passion for delivering optimal patient care and can demonstrate this through the 6Cs of care, compassion, courage, communication, competence and commitment then we would like to hear from you.

This position offers the chance to develop clinical, operational, and managerial skills. Applicants should be able to work within a team, be proactive and have a keen interest in mental health. Mental health experience is desirable but not essential; the successful applicant will be supported in obtaining the required knowledge once in post.

There is no weekend/late night working other than remote on-call which you will participate in. For a band 7 post, you will have at least 2 years post-registration experience, be completing or have completed clinical pharmacy post-graduate study and possess well-developed clinical pharmacy skills. For the band 6 post, newly qualified pharmacists with an interest in mental health will be considered. Applicants must be registered pharmacists with the GPhC or due to register later this year.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will contribute to the planning and delivery of specialistmental health clinical pharmacy services as part of the CWP pharmacy team.As a member of the multidisciplinary team to ensure thatpharmaceutical care needs of patients are met, ensuring that medicinesmanagement standards are upheld in all areas of the trust and comply withlegal, national and local guidelines.Ensure drug therapy is evidence based, safe, cost effective and appropriateto the individual patient.Provide education on safe and effective use of medication to medical andnursing staff, patients and carers.The post holder will provide professional support to pre-registration, studentpharmacists and technicians.Applicants currently in pre-registration training posts are welcome to apply

All new clinical support staff will be required to have completed or working towards the Care Certificate (CWP In-house 2 day training to be completed within 6 months of start date).

Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment.You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service. A small annual fee of £13 per year applies.

New entrants to the NHS will commence on the minimum of the scale stated above.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential
  • Masters Degree in Pharmacy or equivalent
  • Currently or will be registered as practising pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council
  • Evidence of continuing professional development

  • Member of Royal Pharmaceutical Society
  • Member of CMHP
Knowledge and Expertise Essential
  • Good IT skills - Windows, word processing, spreadsheet, database, presentation, e-mail and web applications
Desirable
  • Experience of multidisciplinary team working
  • Basic knowledge of mental health therapeutics
  • Knowledge of NHS policy process and guidelines relating to medicines management, pharmacy and mental health
