An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Mental Health Nurse to join our multi-disciplinary Community Mental health Teams within the Older Peoples Service in the South.

You will have post registration experience and be able to demonstrate an in depth understanding of the needs of Service Users with severe, enduring and complex mental health needs. An understanding of the needs around dementia would be desirable but not essential as specialist training and development will be provided

Main duties of the job

There is an expectation that you will be able to manage a varied and complex caseload which will include completing holistic and specialised assessments and therapeutic interventions. You will possess excellent case management skills as you will be required to provide care co-ordination within the framework of the CPA process. Service User involvement is at the centre of our approach and you will embrace this in your practice. You will be able to demonstrate a range of therapeutic interventions and be committed to the concept of recovery. Although working within a multidisciplinary team you will need to be able to work autonomously and flexibly.

You will have experience in a supervision role and be able to make a positive contribution to the development of the service. You will be encouraged to have access to regular supervision and to maintain your professional development. A good positive attitude towards this specialised client group needs to be demonstrated and also the aptitude to the contribution of continual development of the service incorporating evidence based practice.

This role is community based and there is an expectation that you will provide senior nursing direction to junior staff and students across the South locality. It is essential that you have a full UK driving licence and use of a car.
