Are you interested in playing a key role in the development of a brand-new Gambling Harms Service?

We are keen to recruit dynamic and enthusiastic counselling/clinical psychologists to deliver innovative psychological interventions with people experiencing problem gambling. This is an exciting opportunity to support the development of a new service and specialism within the field of addictions and mental health.

Through NHS England National funding, we are establishing a new regional Service based within Southampton Division at Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust. Initially the service will serve the population of Southampton and then expand to Hampshire, Isle of Wight and Portsmouth. Long-term, permanent, funding has been confirmed; the service is not subject to time limited contracts or re-tendering.

Successful candidates will have sound assessment and formulation skills though specialist training will be provided. The client group presents with various co-existing mental health difficulties, including trauma, and therefore there is scope to develop respective interests through personal and professional development plans. You will be supported through regular supervision and both in-house and external conferences, workshops and courses.

The posts would suit newly qualified counselling/clinical psychologists particularly those who have experience in mental health services delivering cognitive behavioural interventions. Knowledge and experience of working with people with motivational and impulse control difficulties, such as substance misuse and eating disorders, is desirable but not essential.

This role will support the development of a brand-new treatment service, using a digital psychotherapeutic informed approach to treat people who experience problem gambling.

Treatments will be predominantly delivered on-line therefore we are working to a flexible workforce model and will consider part time applicants if they meet the necessary skills required. There will be opportunity to work closely with other gambling teams across the country (as well as international experts) and to evaluate current evidence base in relation to gambling and apply this in the proposed treatment model.

Relocation Costs – Up to £8000 of relocation expenses may be offered to successful candidates who meet the criteria as set out in the Trust policy.
