Senior CAMHS Practitioner, Band 7 in the North Bedford Mental Health Support Team (CMHN, Systemic Family Psychotherapist, Clinical/Counselling Psychologist, Social Worker, Child Psychotherapist)
The Mental Health Support Teams are part of an exciting trailblazer project funded by NHS England, Health Education England and partners, with the aim of improving the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people in the community. There is a specific focus on developing more access to helping and improving the general culture of emotional support within all primary and secondary schools including special educational provisions and PRUs. Working alongside community partners the Mental Health Support Teams will be fully integrated with community CAMHS and educational settings.
Main duties of the job
The roles will help to develop and deliver a wide range of interventions, projects and system change with the aim of whole school and whole community approaches to supporting young people's mental health.
In addition to providing comprehensive consultation, assessment, risk management and interventions for young people experiencing emotional and mental health difficulties in Specialist Schools and Pupil Referral Units, the successful postholder will clinically and operationally lead a diverse range of professionals who will work in a range of primary and secondary schools across the county

We are looking for a confident CAMHS professional with a demonstrable track record of providing good quality evidence based interventions, improving service quality with a strong interest in service development. You will be either a Nurse, Social worker, OT, Psychotherapist or Psychologist with the requisite professional registration. The community served is multi-ethnic and culturally diverse and we welcome applicants who are skilled at working with the richness and complexity of this multicultural context.
Our Bedford team our MHST will be focusing on early interventions, working closely with schools and our partners to improve access to services for children and young people to mental health services. The team will focus on the needs of the community to help reduce health inequalities whilst delivering our whole school approach. It is an exciting time to be part of an integrated service delivering high quality care to families and young people in this area. You would be joining a comprehensive and dynamic CAMH service, delivering a substantial stepped model of care following the needs-led Thrive framework.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential
- A qualification in Child Psychotherapy, Clinical or Counselling Psychology, Family Therapy, Social Work or Nursing & Registration Please do not apply for this role if you do not have one of the qualifications listed above
- The candidate to have post qualification experience
- Understanding of current NHS/Social Care policies/practices relating to Mental Health and Services and understands the Child Protection Policy.
- Parenting qualification and parenting supervision qualification.
- Specific therapeutic modality training and qualification e.g. CBT, DBT, IPT And accreditation with BABCP etc.
- Previous experience of working in CAMHS
- Experience of working with a wide range of mental health problems commonly seen in CAMHS
- Experience of care planning
- Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary way
