This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Family Therapist to join Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board. The Health Board is recruiting for a band 8a 0.5 part time post. The Health Board will consider job share, part time and compressed hours for suitable applicants.

The post will be held in the eating disorders team within the service. The post works alongside other practitioners in the eating disorders team and with external agencies.

Following significant investment from the Welsh Government in 2016, Cwm Taf Morgannwg CAMHS has expanded its Psychological Therapy Service. You will be an experienced Family Therapist with relevant professionalregistration/accreditation.

This is a post within a flourishing multi-disciplinary Network covering Cwm Taf Morgannwg and Swansea Bay University Health Board areas. The post holder will hold a specialist caseload. The main role of the post holder will be to provide specific family therapy skills, knowledge and experience and to provide supervision and consultation.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide a Family Therapy service within the eating disorders service. The post holder will deliver interventions through direct assessment, formulation and therapeutic work. The post holder will provide clinical supervision, consultation, complex case discussion and provide day to day management of other staff.

The post holder to be able to consider the complexity of children with poor engagement, urgent or high risk in their presentations, highly vulnerable which may require intensive clinical consultation regarding certain children and families.

The post holder will be expected to be able to clearly and coherently assess risk, care plan, develop formulations and treatment for complex vulnerable children and families. The post holder will manage a caseload and work within the multi-agency approach.

The post holder will provide individual clinical supervision and group supervision

The delivery of interventions required will be holding a strong family therapy voice within the multi-disciplinary team and to assist and develop the thinking around complex children and young people accessing the eating disorders CAMHS service.

Systemic thinking, assessment, treatment, consultation and formulation will be an integral aspect of the service and every family involved with the service may have contact with the family therapist.

The post holder will be required to work with parents/carers who may have mental health and emotional difficulties. The assessment and intervention delivery will be within professional guidelines of family therapy.

The post holder will be expected to be able to clearly and coherently assess risk, care plan, develop formulations and treatment for complex vulnerable children and families. The post holder will manage a caseload. The post holder will be required to provide specialist consultation and teaching to other members of the MDT and external to CAMHS as required.

Have an in-depth understanding of CAMHS, adult psychiatric services, social services and education. The post holder will have knowledge and experience of transitioning clients to various services and be able to robustly plan, implement and review clinical pathways.

To be instrumental in developing and supporting new innovative models of care and enhancing quality, patient experience and improving care standards for the user group. This will be in line with a service model with key objectives.

To take the lead of the family therapy service plan for the eating disorder service.

Within the CAMHS structure there is a strong vision of working together and for the post holder to respectfully work with other members of the service in order to deliver high quality clinical services.

The post holder could be required to travel to other clinics and services within Cwm Taf Morgannwg and wider depending on clinical need.

The post holder to have excellent knowledge and experience of safeguarding procedures/policy both locally and nationally.

The post holder to be able to consider the complexity of children with poor engagement, urgent or high risk in their presentations, highly vulnerable which may require intensive clinical consultation regarding certain children and families. The post holder will need to be confident, articulate and professional in order for children to be given the right services at the right time to meet their needs, both in the short term and long term.

To provide leadership, acting as a role model and supporting staff employed within the clinical setting.

To contribute to the delivery of NICE Guidance, enhancing practice and safeguarding patient care.
