Are you a registered mental health nurse who is looking to enhance their career within the Wimborne Community Mental Health Team? We are looking for hard-working, innovative and caring individuals who are able to provide focus and creativity to our patients. As the service covers the geographical area of Wimborne and surrounding areas the ability to drive your own vehicle is essential for this post.

This is a busy, friendly service which provides support and on-going care for people with severe mental illness who have multiple and complex needs. We work in a responsive way to provide stability in a person’s life and help them to develop a meaningful occupation alongside managing the symptoms of their mental illness. The role includes Care Coordinating a caseload of patients with severe mental illness as well as also taking part in duty work and initial assessments.

You will work closely with our social care colleagues, the team includes psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, occupational therapists, support time recovery workers, physical health support workers and a carers officer. We are a small and friendly team, we believe in working as a team and supporting each other in challenging situations. You will be provided with regular supervision and if you are thinking of applying from a band 5 position would be given support to develop into your role.

The successful candidates will have a proven ability to provide comprehensive assessments, formulation and specialist treatments for adults of working age with SMI. We encourage you to contact us to arrange an informal visit, come and meet the team and ask us any questions about the role or Dorset. This post will offer a great opportunity for those staff based on inpatient wards to gain insight and experience in a community based setting.

This post is part time, 32.5 hours per week and flexible working will be considered.

Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of.

Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service are able to present a valid DBS certificate instead of requiring a new check.

We would welcome applications from newly qualified nurses and we provide a very comprehensive and fully supported Preceptorship Programme for newly qualified healthcare professionals
