We are seeking a senior Clinical or Counselling Psychologist, or a senior Psychological Therapist with training in a core mental health profession, to take up this exciting new role as the Trauma Informed Care Lead for Swindon. The Community Mental Health Service Framework (CMHF) emphasises the importance of ensuring that services work together to provide trauma informed care. This post has been funded as part of the next phase of our CMHF developments within Swindon. The postholder will provide specialist, evidence based trauma focussed interventions for people on the Swindon Psychological Therapies Service caseload. However, they will also have a key leadership role in providing consultation and training to professionals in other teams, helping to ensure that all aspects of our care become more trauma informed.

Main duties of the job

You should have significant post-qualification experience of providing evidence based, trauma focussed psychological interventions. In addition to carrying a clinical caseload, you will play a key role in advising on ways to improve access to NICE recommended psychological interventions for service users with trauma related presentations in the Swindon Locality. The role will involve consultation and training to colleagues in other teams on the importance of trauma informed care, and involvement in quality improvement projects to ensure that all aspects of our care are becoming more trauma informed. As a key principle of trauma informed care emphasises collaboration, you should feel comfortable liaising with a wide variety of stakeholders, including service users and third sector providers. The postholder will receive line management and clinical supervision within the Psychological Therapies Service, but will also work closely with the Trust Lead for Trauma Informed Care and the Trauma Informed Care leads in other localities within the Division.

The postholder will be based at Chatsworth House. We are co-located with the Recovery team and work closely with them, offering consultancy and supervision in the delivery of psychological interventions. We offer a range of therapeutic approaches, including CBT, DBT, CFT, EMDR and Family Therapy. The role will involve working in partnership with service users, and with the Trust Lead for Trauma Informed Care.
