We are pleased to advertise an exciting opportunity for an outstanding candidate to join our dynamic and energetic CAMHS services as a Clinical Psychologist within Bromley CAMHS, located within the heart of the London Borough of Bromley at our clinic base on Shooters Hill, close to Bromley South train station.

This Band 7 role is a preceptorship for new/recently qualified Clinical Psychologists. successful candidates will be able to progress to a Band 8a role within 18-24 months of appointment/post-qualification, on the condition of meeting a range of competencies (see attached document for further information). Opportunities are available to work across a range of specialisms with CAMHS, including Looked After Children, high-risk adolescent and core specialist CAMHS.

Main duties of the job

You join a vibrant & experienced multi-disciplinary team providing a variety of evidence-based interventions, drawing on your professional skills values, for children & young people presenting with a range of mental health difficulties. This includes specialist assessment, CBT, DBT, IPT & other evidence-based therapeutic interventions, in addition to developing & delivering consultation, training & supervision for other professionals working with c&yp in other settings.

We are committed to developing our workforce & supporting progress into many other roles available within the Trust - including offering a range of internal & external bespoke CAMHS training/CPD opportunities including MBT-A & supervisor training. We offer clinicians the opportunity to develop experience across a range of specialty pathways within CAMHS through rotational posts, in which staff can develop skills working with c&yp with a range of presenting needs (eg. LAC, Neurodevelopmental, EI).

We are constantly looking at ways to improve & innovate our CAMHS services & have committed to provide all staff with dedicated time to participate and/or lead in service development initiatives through the Trust Quality Improvement (Qi) framework. This includes opportunities to develop new care pathways for young adults aged 18-25 years & to become involved in exciting garden groups through our nationally recognised service user participation workstream.

Offer specialist psychology assessment and treatment to young people and their families/carers as well as advice and consultation to social care and other professional colleagues in partner agencies.

The role involves liaising closely with social care, schools and other professional colleagues in partner agencies through consultation, attendance at multi-professional meetings and contributing to training.

Bromley CAMHS offers a broad range of recommended and evidence-based interventions, achieving consistently positive outcomes for children and young people. Clinicians across the service routinely monitor outcomes and collect and incorporate service user feedback into service delivery.

Person Specification Knowledge & Skills Essential

• Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management

Desirable

• Well developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing
• Skills in providing consultation to other professional and non-professional groups.
• Doctoral level knowledge of research methodology, research design and complex, multivariate data analysis

Professional Qualifications Essential

• Doctorate training in clinical psychology, accredited by the BPS
• Current HCPC registration

Desirable

• Pre-qualification training in research methods and/or other fields of applied psychology

Experience/Knowledge/Skills Essential

• Experience of psychological assessment and treatment across care settings
• Knowledge of child protection, child in need and looked-after children legislation and procedures
• Well-developed verbal and written communications skills
