Significant investment in the Learning Disability community health services has created an exciting opportunity for an Occupational Therapist with the knowledge, skills and experience to work at advanced practice level with people with a learning disability and/or autism.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide clinical support to professionals working in the service and deliver expert assessment and intervention. The successful applicant will be registered with the Health and Care Professionals Council, be educated in Sensory Integration at Masters Level (or working towards) and have expert clinical skills in supporting people with a learning disability. You will have strong leadership and advanced clinical skills and significant experience of working across organisational boundaries, to innovate and transform services.

You will have a passion for person centred, evidence based practice, and a proven track record of driving up standards, leading and promoting research, and leading change.

Person Specification Education Essential
  • HCPC
  • First degree/equivalent professional pre-registration qualification in Physiotherapy/Occupational Therapy/Speech & Language Therapy
  • Significant post qualification experience in the relevant field.
Knowledge Essential
  • Extensive specialist knowledge of the care and management of patients in area of specialist
  • Expert clinician with advanced clinical reasoning and therapy skills
  • Evidence of clinical leadership skills including influencing and achieving change and professional development of others
Experience Essential
  • Significant post registration experience in the speciality area including having worked as a clinical specialist (band 7) in area of speciality
  • Experience of collaborative working with a range of multi-agency and inter professional resources
  • Ability to influence and enhance patient care in highly complex circumstances and where information on life changing or limiting conditions/impacts are involved
