This role will be supported by a £12,000 relocation allowance.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Specialty Doctor to get involved in developing an enhanced Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment Team (CRHT). This new post was created after the number of inpatient beds in Great Yarmouth Acute Services was increased from fifteen to twenty.

The post holder will work in the Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment Team to offer an enhanced service to meet the needs of service users who are in crisis or in danger of going into crisis. The post holder will work closely with the fulltime consultant working in the inpatient service and Crisis Resolution Home Treatment Team. The post holder will also work closely with the community teams, general practitioners and with the liaison staff at the James Paget University Hospital.

The CRHT has a caseload of up to 30. The typical referral rate is between 30 and 40 per week. The assessments are generally carried out by Mental Health Practitioners in the first instance; afterwards they will seek the views of the Specialty Doctor or Consultant or request for a medical review if appropriate. The average length of stay is 20 days

Main duties of the job

  • To provide professional expertise and clinical leadership to the CRHT.
  • To promote excellent in service delivery and enable others within the clinical team to provide care of the highest standard.
  • To work with the team to manage risk for those patients with complex disorders and risky behaviours.
  • To ensure that the principle of shared decision-making with patient and carers underpins all the care provided.
  • To conduct him or herself in such a manner as to be demonstrable helping the Trust to deliver its strategy and business objectives and to act as an ambassador at the interface with external partners and stakeholders.
  • As is expected from the holder of a senior public position, the post holder must at all times comply with the Nolan principals and the standards business conduct.
  • To comply with the Trust's agreed policies and procedures. To practice in line with the Royal College of Psychiatrist publication 'Good Psychiatric Practice' 2001 and the General Medical Council's good medical practice '2000' and subsequent revisions of these publications.
  • The post holder will work as a mental health expert consulting with professionals in the local community, primary care, local authorities, the third sector, patient/carer groups and employers to improve mental health care.
