Practitioner Psychologist or Psychotherapist, Band 7 Full time (37.5 hours/week), Permanent

The SLP is seeking a Clinical, Counselling, Forensic Psychologist or Psychotherapist to join the community Forensic Intellectual and Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (FIND) Team.

We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, compassionate & motivated clinician who has interest in working with people with complex neurodevelopmental, mental health & social needs, who is motivated by working with multi-disciplinary teams and across agencies. The postholder will be expected to undertake complex psychological assessments, interventions & clinical consultations to clinical teams across south London. They will be part of a dynamic team of specialist clinicians from a range of professional backgrounds. They will have the opportunity of space to think around cases and work closely with individuals, family, carers, & other professionals.

The postholder will be able to access professional development opportunities as part of an unusually large and dynamic forensic psychological therapies department. The department provides professional opportunities across community, prison & hospital settings, opportunities for research and career progression through on-going professional development. We have close links with our Adult Learning Disability directorate colleagues who have substantial systemic expertise & access to external workshops & supervision with a neuropsychologist.

Main duties of the job

To provide specialist psychological assessments of clients with LD or ASD that present a forensic risk and based upon the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of complex data from a variety of sources including psychological and neuropsychological tests, self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with clients, family members and others involved in the client's care.

To formulate and implement plans for the formal psychological treatment and/or wider care and support needs of a clients with neurodevelopmental needs, mental health problems and offending behaviour.

To provide specialist psychological advice, guidance and consultation to other professionals contributing directly to clients' formulation, support and management.

To be responsible for implementing a range of psychological interventions for individuals, carers, families and groups, and professional networks within and across teams.

To exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment, treatment, management and discharge of clients whose problems are managed by psychologically based standard care plans.

To contribute directly and indirectly to a psychologically based framework of understanding and care to the benefit of all clients of the service,

You will be expected to undertake complex psychological assessments, interventions and clinical consultations to clinical teams across South London. You will work alongside specialist clinicians from professional backgrounds including nursing, psychiatry, social work, speech and language therapy, occupational therapy and administration. You will deliver, develop and coordinate online and face-to-face training events for SLP colleagues.
