Job Title: CAMHS – senior Assistant Psychologist Band 5

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Base: This post is based at The Meridian Centre Louth.

We are looking to recruit a highly motivated and organised senior assistant psychologist to join our community Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (LPFT Core CAMHS).
The successful applicant must have experience of working as an assistant psychologist within a CAMHS setting.
Your application will not be considered if you do not have a BPS recognised Psychology Degree and if you do not have CAMHS experience (refer to Person Specification for full guidance).

The senior assistant psychologist will offer psychology to the Louth CORE Camhs Team- and will need to be able to travel within this large rural part of the county. There will be a mix of working from home using video platforms and face to face working, predominantly at the CAMHS work base.

Main areas of work will include:

• Providing initial CAMHS assessments (face to face or via video)
• Providing evidence based mental health and psychology interventions – group based or individual (face to face or via video)

Therefore the successful applicant will need to have experience of working in a CAMHS setting and will need to evidence that they can work under pressure and provide an engaging and meaningful psychology and mental health service to children and young people and their parents/carers who are assessed as having significant mental health concerns.

LPFT CAMHS is a specialist multi disciplinary service which offers assessment and therapeutic interventions to children and young people who present with complex mental health problems as well as to children and young people who have been victims of trauma; who present with attachment difficulties. The service is very well established and is staffed with clinical psychologists, child psychiatrists, mental health practitioners (qualified nurses, social workers and occupational therapists); specialist therapists including CBT therapists; systemic psychotherapists, and art therapist; assistant practitioners and assistant psychologists; Peer Support Workers and Parent Peer Support Workers.

LPFT’s Community Core CAMHS has achieved an “Outstanding” rating from the CQC 2 years in a row and it is actively involved in service developments which operating flexible opening times; provision of a 24 hours, 7 days a week CAMHS Crisis and Enhanced Treatment Service; provision of a Specialist Eating Disorder Service for Children and Young People.

The LPFT core community CAMHS follows evidence based assessment and treatment pathways for a range of mental health and behavioural presentations and the senior assistant psychologist will be expected to provide some of the interventions indicated on these pathways (eg CBT informed group and individual interventions).

Professional and clinical supervision for the post holder will be provided by a clinical psychologist within CAMHS and line management supervision will be provided by a CAMHS team coordinator.

There are good links between all the community based CAMHS hubs, and specialist supervision is available at different sites for family work; EMDR; CBT; IPT-A; ACT; complex cases; cases presenting with sexually concerning behaviours.
LPFT CAMHS has an on going training programme to ensure all CAMHS staff are able to provide evidence based therapies and further training in specialist therapies and assessment work is actively supported.

All the psychologists within LPFT CAMHS work closely with the Mid Trent Doctorate Course for Clinical Psychology, (based at Nottingham and Lincoln Universities),
