An exciting new role has arisen for an Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) as part of ongoing system-wide mental health transformation programme in line with the Long-Term Plan (LTP). The Lincolnshire Integrated Care System (ICS), alongside the Lincolnshire Partnership Foundation NHS Trust (LPFT) strategic vision, is for improved physical health monitoring, care delivery and parity of esteem between physical and mental health.
This is an exciting opportunity for the postholder to be at the forefront of developing an innovative pathway in the care delivery for patients with eating disorders. The post holder will work together with the Consultant Psychiatrists for the service to develop and lead the Medical (physical) healthcare element of the Lincs Adult Eating Disorder Pathway. This is so that the pathway meets its patients’ physical health needs. You will therefore need to have an excellent grounding in physical healthcare advanced practice, and ideally experience of working with patients with Eating Disorders. However, we know that there are great ACPs out there, but perhaps not with the eating disorder skills. The post holder will have an advanced level of autonomy, providing clinical leadership at all levels and will work in partnership with patients, their carer’s and internal/external colleagues within the MDT to deliver high quality, evidence based physical health management. ACPs in LPFT are not purely clinical however: research and education activities are part of your job plan. Through these endeavours, the post holder will support the development of, and drive improvements in, the medical (physical) health monitoring for patients and colleagues’ skillsets within the service and relevant sections of the Lincs ICS.

The post will be hosted by the specialist eating disorder team and expected to work closely with the relevant stakeholders within the Lincs ICS e.g. PCNs, GP, VCSE. The team currently consists of a Team Co-ordinator/Nurse Specialist; Consultant Psychiatrist; Consultant Clinical Psychologist, Clinical Psychologist; Freed Champion, Nurse Specialist; Dietitians, Assistant Practitioners, Community Support Workers; Medical Secretary and Team Secretaries. We are still recruiting to new roles. We have strong links with the CAMHS Eating Disorders Service and Trust Dietetic Service. We are actively involved with Nottingham and Lincoln Universities, supporting their clinical training and research.
We are committed to staff development and the post holder will receive regular management and clinical supervision along with relevant training to meet recommended NICE guidelines. We have an active ACP journal club and our strategic vision for ACP places us as a front runner in this field amongst mental health trusts.

The postholder’s main base will be dependent on your location. The pathway is countywide and therefore the post holder is expected to be able to work in other locations providing face to face clinical interventions and attending meetings dependent on service need and demand. The Trust is also open to remote and flexible working possibilities as part of this role and dependant on business/service needs. We make use of digital technology that allows for remote working when appropriate.
