Specialist Speech and Language Therapist- Band 6

37.5 hours per week, but part time hours will be considered

Are you an experienced Speech and Language Therapist looking to be part of a friendly, expanding and dynamic multi-disciplinary team -working with individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders including Autistic Spectrum Disorder/Conditions, ADHD, Sensory processing difficulties and Dyspraxia?

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Speech and Language Therapist with particular interest in this clinical area to be a part of a developing service for adults referred by their GP's. The service is an extension of the established and successful Children and Young People's Neurodevelopmental Service, recently rated by the CQC overall as 'Good' and 'Outstanding' for being caring. The neurodevelopmental service has an emphasis on interdisciplinary working to provide a thorough assessment with focus on post-diagnostic support and intervention. The team includes Psychology, Speech and Language Therapy, Psychiatry, Occupational Therapy and Support Staff.

To provide an effective Speech & Language Therapy Service for adults with Speech, Language and Communication Needs, with reference to Trust policies and procedures and also professional standards set out by the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists and the Health Care Professions Council.

The post holder will work as a specialist Speech and Language Therapist as part of a multidisciplinary Adults Neurodevelopmental team. The post will provide interventions for adults with Neurodevelopmental disorders such as Autistic Spectrum Conditions. As a Speech and Language Therapist the role will predominantly work with the client's communication skills.

The post holder will contribute to the development of services as well as carrying a caseload. The role will include group and individual work The role involves multi agency working across social care, education and the third sector services.

You will receive regular professional clinical supervision and you will therefore be professionally linked to other Speech and Language Therapists. Our services hold regular CPD training events and encourage case sharing and discussion. Your CPD in line with service needs will be actively encouraged, in addition to opportunities for training student as the new service becomes established.

The service received an overall rating of Good by the CQC and an Outstanding for care and compassion of which we are rightly proud. We have also been recognised both locally and nationally by receiving awards for the services we provide.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential
  • Occupational Therapy degree or equivalent
  • Registration with Health Professions Council
Knowledge & Skills Essential
  • Shows excellent written communication
  • Has excellent organisational skills
Experience Essential
  • Previous relevant experience working with children or adults with neurodevelopmental disorders.
  • Considerable experience as a qualified Speech and Language Therapist
Other Essential
  • Car driver/owner (It is unlikely that public transport will meet this requirement).
