This position is a 12 month fixed term position to cover maternity leave starting in July 2022

We are seeking a compassionate and psychologically minded RMN to apply for the position of Deputy Ward Manager at Jasmine Lodge, mother & baby unit.

Jasmine Lodge is an 8 bedded, purpose build Mother & Baby unit. We are a national service and we are commissioned by NHS England.

The environment can be challenging and complex, supporting mentally unwell mothers to provide care and maintain a bond with their baby whilst being supported by the team that you will be leading.

About you
The successful candidate will uphold their professional standards and act as a positive role model to the wider MBU team. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to lead and positively influence the team by promoting reflection and identifying the needs of others.

To be a Deputy Ward Manager means that you will have a sound working knowledge of the Mental Health Act and relevant legislation to support and safeguard the children and women in our care. As part of this role you will be expected to enable an environment where junior staff can learn and develop by coaching the team.

The successful post holder will take on the specific duties carried out by the current post holder, this includes leading on physical health, medicines optimisation, local audits and leading on ensuring there is a robust therapeutic timetable in place. In addition to this you will have an active role with rota management, building and maintaining the rota in a timely way to meet the flexible changes of Jasmine Lodge's staffing levels.

You will be expected to attend meetings where the Ward Manager is unable to and represent the ward in a professional way.

You will be expected to take a clinical lead role with infection prevention control, safeguarding, therapeutic activities and audit and policy, leading on this to ensure that the ward is meeting CQC and safety and Quality standards.

The location
Your base will be Jasmine Lodge in Exeter, however under the current COVID-19 conditions this may be subject to alternative arrangements/change for example home working.
