We are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity to be part of the perinatal mental health team, the Specialist Mother and Baby Mental Health service.

Perinatal Mental Health Teams are secondary care mental health teams specialising in supporting women in the perinatal period who have severe and complex mental health difficulties. We assess and treat a range of difficulties including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, psychosis, personality disorders and eating disorders.

We are a multi-disciplinary team including psychiatry, psychological therapists, nursing, occupational therapy, and nursery nursing. The service works closely with maternity/obstetric services as well as other agencies (e.g., midwifery, health visiting and social services).

The service has a growing team of perinatal psychological therapists who are committed to providing evidence-based interventions to women and their families that are accessible and acceptable to the diverse population that we serve in Bradford, Airedale and Craven area. You will also need to be interested in parent-infant relationships.

This position is open to applicants who are qualified, accredited therapists-please see person specification. Candidates must have proven experience of assessment skills and providing treatment for a range of mental health issues.

Main duties of the job

• Provide evidence based psychological therapy, making autonomous clinical decisions about own professional practice.
• To work flexibly to ensure access to therapy is improved. Delivering interventions in home, in clinics and other appropriate spaces.

• Provide clinical supervision, consultation and advice on psychological therapies.

• Assist the Team Manager/Clinical Lead with operational duties and service development, including research and development activities.
• To hold a perinatal frame of mind in the approach to working with mothers and their families.

The Service operates Monday-Friday; 9.00am-5.00pm however successful applicants would be expected to have the flexibility to work occasional extended hours to facilitate service effectiveness. Car driver essential.

Job description Job responsibilities

• Work with autonomous professional judgement, together with other psychological therapists, to deliver evidence based therapy to individual and groups of patients.
• Manage a designated caseload of patients with responsibility for their assessment (including clinical risk), implementation and evaluation of therapy.
• Supervise and support psychological therapists and other health care professionals.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential

• Doctorate level training in clinical or applied psychology, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical, psychometrics, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology as accredited by the BPS, or a BPS Statement of Equivalence. or
• Specialist post graduate training to masters level or equivalent in a psychotherapeutic modality - including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, Systemic Therapy AND Accreditation from a recognised Psychological Therapy body e.g. BABCP, BACP, UKCP via: (a) Professional route; requiring previous mental health qualification e.g. Clin. Psych., RMN, Dip. SW. or (b) where applicable, the KSA (knowledge, skills and attitude) route (e.g. with the BABCP).
