We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic practitioner to train in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) with a view to transitioning to band 7 upon receiving accreditation from the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP).

We are a team of psychologists and psychological therapists working across the three community mental health teams in Southampton. We are a cohesive, supportive and friendly team with a wealth of clinical expertise including CBT, DBT, CAT, ACT, EMDR and psychodynamic approaches. We have good supervision structures and an excellent track record of CPD, as well as strong links with the University of Southampton and the University of Plymouth.

You would complete a postgraduate qualification in CBT at the University of Southampton, alongside offering a clinical service to patients under supervision. You will specialise in offering therapy to service users with a diagnosis of personality disorder and to others with severe emotional and interpersonal difficulties. You will also see individuals with a range of other problems amenable to treatment with CBT. You will provide individual and group therapies, as well as offering consultation and supervision to other team members.

We are seeking applicants with a core professional training in mental health (nursing, occupational therapy or social work) or an equivalent level of knowledge and experience matching the Knowledge Skills and Attitudes (KSA) requirements of the BABCP. Applicants should have solid experience in mental health and strong interpersonal skills, together with the motivation and aptitude to complete a postgraduate qualification in psychological therapy.

Flexible working arrangements are possible, including some remote working according to clinical need.

We are committed to equality of opportunity and keen to increase the diversity of our team.

Informal enquiries and visits are very welcome. Please contact Dr Paul Bayliss, Consultant Clinical Psychologist in the community on: 07500 881333 e-mail paul.bayliss@southernhealth.nhs.uk
