This could be your perfect opportunity Within this role, you will provide assessment and treatment of occupational needs on an Acute ward, under the supervision of a senior OT. You will also have the support of an Occupational Therapy Assistant and/ Activity Coordinator, who will provide therapeutic interventions and meaningful activity engagement for each patient.

Main duties of the job

As part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will provide assessment and treatment of occupational dysfunction under the supervision of a more senior Occupational Therapist. An integral part of this role will be supervising others, with a focus on supporting student education within the team.

Summary of the site

We are currently recruiting for a band 5 Occupational Therapist to join our team on Phoenix ward, an Acute Inpatient Mental Health ward at Cygnet Hospital Wyke.

Phoenix ward is part of a large hospital at Wyke in Bradford. The ward can support up to 19 adult men in a therapeutic and calming setting. The service is an emergency admission ward that aims to work with service users with a broad range of mental health problems. The team works closely and collaboratively with service users, their family and the referrer to provide a seamless pathway from referral to discharge.

Within this role, you will contribute to the maintenance and development of the Occupational Therapy service on Phoenix ward at Cygnet Hospital Wyke under the supervision of a band 7 Occupational Therapist. You will support patients through the acute care Occupational Therapy pathway. As part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will provide assessment and treatment of occupational dysfunction and promote the importance of enabling people to do the things they want, need or are expected to do to support them being well in life.

The Occupational therapy department at Cygnet Wyke hospital has 3 qualified OTs, 1 Occupational Therapy Assistant s and 6 Activity Coordinators. Our environment includes a gym, onsite vocational activities, ADL kitchens, a sensory room and other therapeutic spaces.

Occupational Therapy Directorate

Under the leadership of our occupational therapy directors we support over 150 Occupational Therapists. Working together as a large team we provide support to each other across the group, with the opportunity to be part of specialist interest groups & become involved in service development.

Every service line has a clinical lead occupational therapist to lead and develop evidence based practice and agreed occupational therapy pathway.

We ensure our occupational therapists have a voice through participating in service model development, utilising the expertise and support of our clinical lead occupational therapists.

Occupational Therapy Preceptorship & Induction:

We understand the pandemic has brought with it challenging times, and we recognise this may have had an impact on some of your placement experiences. We offer an Occupational Therapy 12 month preceptorship programme to support and consolidate core Occupational Therapy Skills.
