Are you an Occupational Therapist with an interest in developmental trauma and attachment-informed ways of working?

Are you interested in being part of an exciting opportunity to join an expanding team, providing a service for Children in Care in Brighton and Hove through inter-agency working with Children's Social Care?

We are looking for an Occupational Therapist to join the Brighton and Hove Children in Care Psychology Service. The focus of this service is to work together to develop positive relationships across multi-agency networks and to make plans for interventions based on a shared understanding of the needs, vulnerabilities and strengths of children and young people in care who have experienced developmental trauma. You would join a small and dynamic led by 2 Clinical Psychologists based within children's social care. Brighton and Hove Children's Social Care Services work to an innovative and relational based model and supports its social work teams in a 'Pod' structure.

Covid-19 full vaccination may be a condition of employment for this role, unless an exemption applies. The successful applicant may have contact with vulnerable service users and we will therefore seek proof of being fully vaccinated during the recruitment process.

Main duties of the job

Identifying with the young person, their family, carers and professional network in supporting the young people to explore and / or return to meaningful and valued activity.

Supporting the holistic assessment of a young person's cognitive, physical and mental health needs and strengths in relation to their functional abilities, considering their identity, routines and habits to establish their care needs.

Providing specialist assessments and treatment through sensory processing and sensory attachment frames of reference and occupational adaptation.

Contributing to the creation and review of a multi-disciplinary formulation about the young person's presenting difficulties and needs.

You will work closely with the wider multi-disciplinary and multi-agency colleagues, including care and education. The children and young people are often aged below 12 years and so an understanding of this developmental age group is advantageous.
