Here in Wells, St Andrews Ward is looking for nurses to contribute to providing excellent services.

We are a very caring and close knit team with a focus on supporting each other through the challenges of working on an acute ward so we can continue to make a difference to our patient's recovery.

St Andrews ward is a 14 bedded facility, that provides care to working age adults, we have a team of specialist mental health doctors, nurses and therapists who work closely with the crisis resolution and home treatment team.

Somerset NHS Foundation Trust is the first NHS trust on the English mainland to provide community, mental health and acute hospital services.

We work with health and social care partners in Somerset to ensure that we deliver outstanding services that meet the needs of our population.

Main duties of the job

We will empower you to work innovatively, showing a commitment to providing compassionate care and a strong desire to improve the patient's experience. You will be able to apply the philosophies of engagement, recovery and positive care in your work with your patients.

Working as a key member of the in-patient multi-disciplinary team, within a recovery focused service. There is a need to demonstrate a commitment to teamwork as well as taking pride in caring for our patients, we also prioritise taking care of our employees! You will be part of a compassionate and friendly team who understand the challenges that arise when working and the importance of supporting one another through these.

Personal and professional development is a requirement of the post and will be supported through both internal and external training opportunities.

We have been accredited with AIMS from the Royal College of Psychiatrists creates an environment where you will be able to learn from your colleagues, whilst supporting each other to provide the most high-quality patient care.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential
  • Relevant degree or equivalent qualification
  • Registered Mental Health Nurse
  • Appropriately registered with the NMC as per post requirements.
Desirable
  • Teaching /Assessor qualification
Knowledge Essential
  • Required to develop the knowledge base in line with the KSF requirements for the post.
  • Experience of working in multi-agency services
Desirable
  • Evidence of continuing professional development and to have undertaken post registration training.
Skills Essential
  • Ability to recognise and manage challenging situations in a calm and professional manner.
  • Show care and compassion and put the patient Centre.
