Band 6 - Clinical Team Leader

To co-ordinate and provide care and treatment to an identified group of patients without direct supervision. In addition, supporting junior staff in delivery of care provision.

Take responsibility for the development and delivery of evidence based practice for service users with complex needs, ensuring that it supports and reflects service user individual needs, Trust objectives and professional guidance.

Main duties of the job

Contribute to the development of high quality evidence based in-patient services in a changing health care environment.

Contribute towards ensuring that the ward functions as an integral part of the Directorate's services.

Effective communication with all relevant personnel both internal and external to the Trust.

To practice within professional guidelines and promote professional practice in clinical area.

To ensure continuous personal development through the utilisation of regular supervision, annual appraisal and training where appropriate.

To provide clinical leadership and supervision to the staff group in order to promote and develop excellence in practice.

Person Specification Education/ Qualification/ Training Essential
  • Registered Nurse (Mental Health)
  • Mentorship certification
  • Completion of Preceptorship
Experience Essential
  • -Experience at band 5 level or above working with people with mental health problems/ learning disabilities
  • -Experience of working in an inpatient setting
  • -Working within a multidisciplinary team environment
  • -Experience of providing individualized and culturally sensitive care
  • -Supporting and supervising students and junior staff
Desirable
  • -Experience working with young people with disordered eating
  • -Managing challenging and aggressive behaviour
Knoel;dge and Skills Essential
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate care for complex patients
  • Minimising clinical risk and reducing restrictive practices
  • Able to work systematically and objectively in an environment with patients who can present high risk behaviours
  • Able to manage time so that deadlines are met
  • Ability to recognize and manage stress, in self and others
