MHST CBT Therapist/Psychologist/MH Practitioner and EMHP Supervisor

The role

As part of the expanding Mental Health Support Teams (MHST) in schools, we are delighted to announce that Surrey was successful in obtaining additional MHST sites. Our current MHST areas are Epsom, Spelthorne, Reigate and Banstead, Elmbridge and Surrey Heath. We currently have both qualified EMHPs and trainee EMHP’s in each of these sites. We have now also been successful in obtaining four more MHSTs to begin in September 2022 (Woking, Runnymede, Guildford and Waverley). We are hoping to recruit to these new MHST sites and also have vacancies in existing MHST teams (Surrey Heath and Spelthorne).

We invite you to consider being involved in this exciting opportunity to help to deliver the governments vision and commitment to develop integrated mental health teams in schools.

Building on existing 'whole school approaches’ to mental health and wellbeing, Surrey is developing new MHSTs to work with selected primary and secondary schools to increase access to mental health interventions for children and young people up to the age of 18 years.

Our MHSTs will support families and young people with an emerging or mild mental health problem and will deliver evidence-based interventions based on the Cognitive Behavioural Therapeutic (CBT) approach in schools. Each MHST will be co-located in schools, operating from the four main geographical hubs, with services delivered across the cluster of schools for each area.

About you

This exciting opportunity means we are looking to recruit Senior Early Intervention Clinicians to join our MHSTs in Surrey. As a senior clinician you will be responsible for management and supervision of the EMHPs, as well as providing consultation, advice, training and delivering interventions. The clinician will be a professional who has experience providing supervision or support to more junior staff.

This post comes with a mandatory 1-year parallel Education Mental Health Practitioner (EMHP) supervisor training programme, requiring successful completion for this role. The EMHP supervision course is designed to provide the EMHP supervisor/ with comprehensive training in the knowledge, skills and competencies required to deliver effective clinical supervision as part of the MHST initiative. Applicant criteria include substantive knowledge and experience of wellbeing delivery within education settings and /or CBT / Low Intensity CBT interventions. This course will be delivered through Sussex University and begin October 2022.

We are looking to build a multi-disciplinary MHST team whose strength will come from the variety of skills and experience brought by each team member. As such we would welcome applications from candidates with a range of experience and from range of professional backgrounds including but not exclusively, CBT Therapy, Social Work, Psychology, Occupational Therapists, Child Psychotherapy and Mental Health Nurses.

We are looking for measured, inspiring, motivated dynamic, experienced, forward thinking clinicians who are flexible and able to work effectively with partners in education, multiagency partners, children, young people and their families.

We are also offering a £2000 Golden Hello to the successful candidate appointed of this role, subject to conditions - please find further information in the leaflet attached to this vacancy.

The candidate must have a full and valid driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposesdue to the community element of this role .
