Are you looking to take the next steps in your nursing career? We're seeking an inspirational leader to join our collaborative team as Matron, running our newly refurbished PICU here at NSFT...

We're looking for a special person to join us to build and lead a team alongside the MDT; this is a highly respected post that would receive the guidance of a supportive, visionary management team who have pledged to work together, to make sure that we do all we can to help deliver outstanding care to people admitted to our inpatient units.

As Matron of PICU you'll be at the heart of the ward, leading from the front with a level head and a flexible, energised attitude. This is a key role and we're committed to supporting the successful candidate; you'll have an individualised development plan which includes the option to access leadership programmes.

Rollesby will work in conjunction with our PICU based in Suffolk to ensure our PICU pathway is lined up. As Matron of our Norwich based PICU, you'll have the opportunity to work collaboratively with the wider pathway e.g. our Mother and Baby Unit, our low secure unit, and our other inpatient areas based at Hellesdon, to ensure we have a joined up approach to supporting those in our care.

Main duties of the job

We will be welcoming aMatronwho will be supported to deliver care specific to thepopulation, nurturing the skills of the team in supporting people at their most unwell, whilst creating a therapeutic, safe environment.

The team will consist of a variety of highly skilled professionals including nursing, medical, psychology and OH colleagues. You will work closely with all of them to ensure the care is not only outstanding but that the team is well developed and supported.

We are looking for an experienced nurse, preferable with PICU experience with a can-do approach, who is aware of the operational pressures of a rehabilitation unit. We are looking for a strong and proven leader who can take responsibility for decisions and support junior members of the team.

Communication is key. We are looking for someone who can communicate in a professional manner with a wide spectrum of people to achieve the best outcome. Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills are a must for this role as you will be working in an environment where creativity on how to approach situations is key.

We are also looking for someone who has the confidence in their own conviction, this role does involve making decisions which can be very difficult to make.

However most importantly we are looking for someone who has exceptional people skills as this role requires you to make difficult decisions whilst having to maintain professional relationships.

Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust is the main provider of specialist mental health services for the counties of Norfolk and Suffolk, serving a population of 1.6 million people. We are a large organisation covering a wide geographical area divided into ‘Care Groups'. There are also Care Groups supporting children, family and young people’s services, and specialist services, including Forensic mental health services.
