We are currently looking for a highly motivated and Applied Clinical Psychologist to jointhe North Yorkshire and York Directorate's Adult Mental Health Services. The candidate will join the established West Integrated Community Mental Health Team covering the Richmondshire Locality, providing clinical services to service users within the team's geographical areas and will be based at the Colburn Team office. As we cover a large rural area there will be an expectation to also provide assessment and therapy from other team bases within the locality.

Main duties of the job

The post will play a key role as part of the multidisciplinary leadership team, as well as contributing to the provision of high quality care to improve service user outcomes. Candidates should have excellent interdisciplinary working skills and be interested in developing and delivering innovative interventions. They will have experience of engaging with individuals suffering from severe mental health problems.

The post is open to successful candidates who are newly qualified Psychologists will be expected to work towards the competencies of the higher band within an agreed time frame; being regraded to the 8a role upon successful completion as per the appropriate Job Description and banding.

There are also strong links to the local Doctorate programmes as we are key providers of academic and clinical experience components both in terms of teaching and supervision.

The local services have undergone service transformation and investment and are working towards offering extended team operating hours Monday to Friday 9am to 7pm. This post would be subject to organisational change processes supporting this and the personal circumstances of the successful applicant will be reviewed in line with trust policy to support their individual needs.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential
  • Post-graduate training (doctoral level equivalent) in clinical / counselling / forensic psychology (or its equivalent prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS.
  • HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist
Desirable
  • Registration with BPS
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
Experience Essential
  • Working as a qualified applied psychologist within the designated service including a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course and a range of clinical severity across a range of care settings.
  • Exercising full clinical responsibility for clients' psychological care as a care coordinator within the context of a multidisciplinary team.
Desirable
  • Experience of joint working with statutory, voluntary and private sector agencies
Knowledg / Skills Essential
  • Risk assessment and risk management
  • Knowledge of legislation in relation to the client group and mental health.
  • Communicate highly complex and highly sensitive information effectively, to a wide range of people
Desirable
