Main duties of the job

You will be expected to work as part of a team to deliver high quality, evidence based and person centred occupational therapy, supporting our integrated model of care focused on enabling people to engage in meaningful occupations.

You will have the support of an occupational therapy team, with opportunities to develop your practice and skills in a variety of areas.We are a learning organisation and value supervision and continued professional development.

As 7 day services are developed, applicants must be prepared to work as part of a rota to cover 7 days.

The post holder will be expected to travel within the Health Board area. Mileage expenses are payable, pool cars and a lease car scheme are available.

Hywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and its bordering counties. Person Specification Qualifications and Knowledge Essential

• Degree in Occupational Therapy
• Current HCPC Registration
• Understanding of roles of other staff groups in health and social care
• Awareness of relevant outcome measures to demonstrate effectiveness
• Knowledge of relevant current health and social care legislation applicable to role
• Knowledge and application of Microsoft Office software
• Awareness of clinical governance, including research and audit methodology

Desirable

• Working knowledge of therapeutic equipment. Knowledge of Health Board and priorities
• Knowledge of a range of rehabilitation interventions across all therapies
• Knowledge of other services that link across primary/secondary/ intermediate care

Experience Essential

• Experience of working in therapy or relevant other field, which may include practice education, voluntary or paid employment
• Working with a variety of people with differing needs
• Working as part of a team
• Direct involvement with carers and families
• Use of adaptive techniques for improving patient outcomes
• Managing a caseload
• Self-development and application of learning

Desirable

• Experience of working in a community setting
• Experience of coping independently with distressing or emotional situations in challenging work environments
• Experience or using virtual communication platforms for delivering services
• Contributing to improving services
• Experience of working with groups
