The successful applicant will work as part of an established team with bases in Crewe and Winsford; working alongside consultant psychologist, consultant psychiatry and Advanced Practitioner colleagues across Community CAMHS, part of Cheshire and Wirral Partnership Trust to further the development and delivery of CAMHS across the footprint of the Trust.

The advertised post is the consultant for the 0-18 team in Central Cheshire.

The post and teams are based in the Mill Street centre in Crewe and Hawthorn Centre in Winsford where they are co-located with colleagues from learning disability CAMHS, All Age Well-Being Hub, Mental Health Support Teams and the Eating disorders team for the Central Cheshire spoke of the specialist CHEDS team. There is flexibility with the choice of base.

Main duties of the job

The 0-18 teams across Central Cheshire comprises 18 whole time equivalent staff. This includes case managers, cognitive behavioural therapists, primary mental health practitioners, Advanced Nurse PractitionerPsychology. The teams are able to offer solution focused therapy, cognitive behaviour therapy, EMDR and trauma therapy, DBT and other therapeutic interventions. The teams run group interventions including parent groups for anxiety. Each team sees approximately 300 new referrals per year and uses the CAPA model to manage flow through the system. Currently there are no waiting lists for either choice appointment or partnership work. The locality has an advanced nurse practitioner and NMP who is shared across a number of teams.

All new clinical support staff will be required to have completed or working towards the Care Certificate (CWP In-house 2 day training to be completed within 6 months of start date).

New entrants to the NHS will commence on the minimum of the scale stated above.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential
  • MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
  • Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment Included on the GMC Specialist Register OR within six months.

  • Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management

  • In good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice

  • Excellent knowledge in speciality
  • Excellent clinical skills using bio-psycho-social perspective and wide medical knowledge
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
  • Able to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty
  • Makes decisions based on evidence and experience including the contribution of others
  • Able to meet duties under MHA and MCA
